No snow here - just water, and more water pouring down. I think our little hill is beginning to slide away. Poor chickies. The ducks don't seem to mind.

The electric fence was left off last night and one of the goats got out and was eating the landscaping. GRRR! I got up and shouted at her! you should have seen her bolt - took off like a cannonball, she knew she was being naughty. Unfortunately, hubby can't catch her, she's terrified of him, so he fixed the electric problem while I caught her. She's pretty good with me, but she did NOT want to go back in her pasture. Not enough interesting things to do I guess.

cflaming: I'm so sorry about your dog - I do hope he/she has only a temporary problem.

Yes, we wormed the horses yesterday?

do you have horses? use Ivermectin for anything? wormed chickens or any other animals?

did you use ivermectin? Ivermectin overdose causes sudden blindness, I have had two it happened to at the same time. have photo's and video. if your dog ate the horse poop or chewed or licked the syringes its very likely its an ivermectin od. ivermectin is safe in most breeds of dogs but in a very low dose, paste wormer or whats been passed with the manure is to much for a dog. it can be fatal but odds are its not. my dogs recovered in a few days, but that was after I spent thousands at the doggy eye doc and the specialist in Lynnwood. if you went to the eye vet in redmond, they have my dogs file there. you can pm me and I will give you the info for them to look up, they ran all sorts of tests but could not help her. the specialist were stumped too, I found the ivermec they got in to 3 days into the ordeal.

Hey guys! Audrey's asleep so I'm typing as fast as I can to get caught up with emails! :) I'm planning on going to Monroe....not going to show very many birds...mostly going to liquidate my flock.

Parting with:

LF GLC pair $50
4 Light & Coronation Sussex
$100/all 4 or sell two of the hens separately for $25/each
Crevecoeur Flock (5 total) $75 or will sell two of the hens separately for $20/each
MFC bantam pair $100 FIRM

I have a "buyer" for my bantam Houdans--he's actually going to trade me for a pair of...um....

SILKIES!

I figured those would be a good bird for Audrey's chickens. I just have to find her a little coop that we can put in the backyard, close to water & electricity. :)

I'll be offering the above at special BYC Washingtonian pricing for the next week or so...after that, I'll have to pay for sale cages and drag the birds to the show and try to sell them so they'll be priced higher for the show. :)

Both of my African Dewlap females are starting to NEST!!! We got about 3" of new snow last and it's windy but it's sunny and they don't seem to notice the snowstorm building and heading towards us.

Lastly, anyone want to split an IDEAL Poultry order with me? I'm biting the bullet and ordering meaties this spring....

Yes this is very much what I was thinking and especially since they wormed yesterday.

oh yea, I forgot to tell you, (sometimes I'm smarter than the average bear!!) LOL!!
We have this old over head camper we bought a year and half ago, bought it for 500.00 . Off of CL, now here is why I don't trust people, I had a sneaking suspicion but I gave them the benefit of the doubt. This was an older gal / RN said her daughter had been living in it, everything worked, no problem, just had to get it moved, cause it was at an apartment complex. Ok, I get that, but, there was no way to test stuff where it was sitting, and we had actually had a trip planned cause I had been speaking to her for a week, so we were going to go, load it up and take our trip!!! WRONG!! To make a long story short, we had trouble loading it, finally got it back home, tried to start everything, and yea.... it didn't work!! Now, that was the electrical hook up, I hooked it up and tried the fridge and it never came on, ect, the propane tanks are old as crap, and there was no propane in it!! Anyway, it's my fault cause I shouldn't have been in a hurry and I should have figured things out before we decided to take it. So, then we were going to fix it up, then we ended up buying a way nicer camper, so we were going to part this out!
I was walking by it the other day and opened the door.......and all of the sudden.......(wait for it)........I got a brain storm!!!
I'm going to make it my chick/ baby goatie room!!

It's insulated and had linoleum and if we take some stuff out, we will have plenty of room!!!! Might need to buy some stuff to poop proof it ect, cause yea, they aren't going to be running amuck in there but ya!!!
And believe it or not my husband thought it was a grand idea!!!!! Yeaaaaa I got something right!!!! LOL!!!!

So although I probably shouldn't have bought it, I think this idea will serve to utilize it effectively as long as it's on the property!!!!
The fridge is probably junk but if it has a range, furnace, water heater, water pump tanks etc. Those can most likely be made to work and sell on CL. There is a demand for RV parts!

thats why I asked if they had wormed or used ivermectin recently. I have direct experience with an ivermec OD. there is one other disease the eye doc told me that can cause blindness like that but its usually not that fast. ivermec is also fatal to white footed herding breeds that carry the mrd1 (or whatever its called) gene. shelties collies border collies aussies etc have a mutated gene that reacts badly to ivermectin

Want to get more girls to add to the flock, not sure I am wanting to go through the process of raising them from peeps.

Although I am not sure how I would go about integrating more hens that are of egg laying age, with the girls we already have. questions, questions, questions. At least I am in the right playce to get the right answers.

This is great to know although we just consider it the same risk across the board. BAD FOR ALL K-9 !
