Morning all. A wee frosty here, was out about midnight last night and the vehicles looked like someone had slowly misted them with the hose as the water froze solid over and over. The girls are out to get the freeze dried worms. If this sun stays around, I may be working on the herb garden and hoop house today. Have a fab day!

did you use ivermectin? Ivermectin overdose causes sudden blindness, I have had two it happened to at the same time. have photo's and video. if your dog ate the horse poop or chewed or licked the syringes its very likely its an ivermectin od. ivermectin is safe in most breeds of dogs but in a very low dose, paste wormer or whats been passed with the manure is to much for a dog. it can be fatal but odds are its not. my dogs recovered in a few days, but that was after I spent thousands at the doggy eye doc and the specialist in Lynnwood. if you went to the eye vet in redmond, they have my dogs file there. you can pm me and I will give you the info for them to look up, they ran all sorts of tests but could not help her. the specialist were stumped too, I found the ivermec they got in to 3 days into the ordeal.

You nailed it!

Simon loves to share the horse grain, and our filly spit out the Ivermectin onto her food.  Simon must have gotten enough to affect his vision.  The timing certainly matched.  We went to Northwest eye specialist yesterday at least armed with a possible explanation and she agreed.  He was already getting some of his vision back in his left eye while we were there and she expects him to fully recover over the next few day.

Today he is seeing well enough to get around the house and go with me up to the barn to help feed.

Thank you for the heads up.  We are all doing so much better.

is Northwest the one in Rose Hill? that is where I took my girl and at that time we had no idea about the ivermectin. They were really good in there and instead of piddly farting around with endless testing they said we are stumped, take her to the specialist in Lynnwood. appreciate that they did not waste all my time and money on things that would do no good. so happy your dog is on the mend!

Yes, Northwest is the one on Rosehill. We were referred there by the Veterary Specialty Center in Lynnwood. The eye doctor seemed familiar with Ivermectin toxicity once I brought it up. But maybe she looked it up on the internet after we arrived. We had taken our cat there for glaucoma treatment years ago. We have an appt on Monday for nerve testing but I will probably cancel that because of his improvement. Save my money for the other vet bills that are sure to come.

I let my hatches take two days from the time the first chick hatches. Generally this is enough time. If you do not have a candler, pick up the egg and tap it to see if you get a response. Most times if the embryo is alive, it will peep. If no peeping and everyone else is out, it means the egg is not viable.

Do you leave the hatched chicks in there for that long? After shrink wrapping a chick last time, I'm really nervous to open the incubator at all.

both of those places have my dogs records and results. Northwest had never seen ivermec od before that though. so she may have recognized it from having worked with my girl. I do not remember the docs name but it was a really nice woman. Lynnwood has many vets and unless you got the same one I did, I am going to guess they dont really pay attention to another vets case.
