With goats, you can't just have one. They are a pack animal and need at least one friend to thrive. We have both pygmy's and nigerian dwarf goats. In my opinion, the nigerian dwarfs are cuter and will give you more milk. The pygmy's are meant to be a meat goat. They are about the same size though, so you could get one of each!

They just don't get it. They have jobs with steady pay with benefits these new fees don't matter at all.
To the rest of us REAL people who are fighting for survival every time I look around another fee[tax] is being added to my life.
Yet these same people want you to come work at their home for 1980's wages when I have 2012 bills.
HELLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

IDIOTS!

yea, .....hm...did we reduce the fees a few years ago by voting on it??? so, they just keep finding more and more things to add to it, and then pretty soon car tabs will be right back where it was before!! Ridiculous!!

well sorry I still haven't gotten a picture of my little chick with a leg problem, I've tried fixing it acouple time, but can't seem to find the right way to get it set. I have turkeys that should be pipping tomorrow!!! I had to fill the bator with water before lock down, so I picked them up to move them and I felt them moving inside the shell!!

Try to get a picture of it, the sooner the better to help it. I had one chick that I couldnt help with leg problems. Dont know if you remember but Im the one that would get up every few hours all night and day to help a chick stand. I didnt get it to ever be ok but it could walk only to have it have a cross beak and I lost it when it was older. should have let it go when it was a chick. My hubby has put rules down here because I want to save all and than when I loose them when they are older it just kills me..

On leg mites: I mix vaseline with a splash or two of "Melafix" avalible at Wal mart or other fish/aquarium places.
melafix is Melaluca.....tea tree oil.
So get a gob of vaseline, do a dribble of Melafix, MIX,, and then rub into the birds' legs, hard under every scale.
Repeat every couple weeks.

Thanks... I was waiting for monday to go to get tea tree oil from the natures market, but heck, If i can get it at wally world!

uh!! you need a goat!! maybe two!! They don't eat as much as cows and are easier to handle!! And you can make soap and cheese!! Lots of good stuff!! I started canning too, my parents did all that stuff when I was a kid, I was raised on a small farm, but, I wished I'd have paid more attention!! Good stuff!! If we don't need to depend on others, or other "institutions" why should we right??

Geeze I guess I better look into getting a goat or two.... I wonder what the husband will say. Or maybe I will just get one and put in the back yard and wait till he notices??

. I canned for the first time ever last year. I watched youtube and read a bunch of books and taught myself and I love it. Its a lot of work but I feel so much better feeding my kids stuff that I grew in my garden or locally fresh and I know exactly whats in it. It amazes me how much crap they put in food and soaps these days... and they wonder why so many ppl are sick and have cancer and all these crazy things going on.... Look what were pumping into our bodies... Cant be good.
