. ReiMiraa Nice pictures of all the birds ! BUT wheres all the pictures of the people and ALL the food I missed???

I would like to THANK ALL of YOU for your posts and PM's with well wishes and offers of help because of my surgery . I was Blowen away by all the responses . It only conferms what I already knew! Chicken people are the BEST friends to have

We missed you!!!! But, you need to take care of yourself, so you can get to the next one!!

Sad news the one chick that I managed to save decided to go jump in the water and drowned. It was my fault I should have taken the water out or not put so much in the container. And I should not have moved the eggs so the little chick who was having trouble walking could climb up the eggs and go diving in the water.

All the other eggs were shrink wrapped so bad that I could not save the 2 that were still alive. I am so glad that I got an incubator. Now I can save any eggs that a broody decides to quit on them.

On a plus side I forgot to mark my new eggs and my barred rock layed an egg in the broody box so now she is sitting on 9 eggs.
They are now marked.

Two weeks ago I tried to catch my rooster ,Ricky Retardo. I had him cornered in the barn, but when I went to grab him he flew over my shoulder and all I caught was air! I felt a burning feeling in my left forearm. To make a long story short, I tore my bicep and I'm having surgery on Wednesday. The doctor says I will be off work for 3 months and it will take 8 months to heal so I can do heavy lifting. He says I probably won't be able to go back to my regular job (mixing dough). So when I do go back to work, I will probably have to take an easier job with not so much heavy lifting.
I hope the surgery and recovery goes well, and as others have said, please let us know if we can help you in any way!

It appears my flock is still growing - I cannot for the life of me figure out how I only meant to have 4 chickens and now have 12. Ah well, it's a happy accident. I just wish DH would stop asking me questions about why I have so many chickens. Um, I don't know - because I'm bad at math?

I resemble that remark, my chicken population more than doubled yesterday! And I was going to have only four too, once upon a time...

To Help keep Ron from getting into trouble or doing anything that would keep his arm from healing I would be willing to use Kim's DH's ticket that I know he would be more than happy to contribute to the cause so I could escort Ron on his mission of healing.

SILKIE SILKIE SILKIE ! ! ! The AWESOME set it and (almost) forget it incubator. No worry of turning, no worry about if your hygrometer is off and you have wrong humidity, NO WORRY ABOUT POWER OUTAGES. Does it get much better?

Yeah, great setters and mothers, but no way they could handle the spring/summer hawk problem we have. We lost ALL our "natural chick" babies last year to hawks, and 14 (maybe more) ducklings. See, we have them free range - no "pens" or "runs".

Thanks Robin, but I have to regretfully decline. I have to see the doctor this week to schedule some shoulder surgery, followed by some months of p.t., so hard as it is, I'm not going to succumb to more chickens right now. I just want to get all healed up before taking on any more projects.

I still have some pullets to find homes for - Himself says he'll take them to the auction in Chehalis for me.

Oh B!! I am so sorry to hear about your chicks!!

Dang it!!

Good luck with the eggs you have left!!
I just have to tell you guys, I went to talk to my little poults that hatch 6 days ago, your not even going to believe this!! I know which one is the Tom already!!! He started strutting when I put my hand down to him!! LOL!! CL said they start early!! but 6 days!! It was funny!!

Well, I am really not liking the LG I have, so I am in search of another bator!! The one I have is old, I repaired a hole in the bottom and it's kinda working, but I am having problems with the temp control!! So after spending money on the fan, I will probably have to get another bator, I have WAY too many eggs to incubate in the next few days!! Thank you again to all the enablers!! I will do my best to make you proud!!

Oooo... color me envious. I love the blues and that's one color I don't have in my flock yet. I have a black and a lavender from Pips N Peeps and just picked up a silver of hers for a friend yesterday. I'm saving all the silvers eggs to hatch at the end of the week because she suggested they will be fertile. I was trying to hold off hatching until May but I can't stand it anymore.

I'm not that strong!

Happy Hatching - looking forward to pics!
