Hi Justbugged!

Looks like you have night crew company.

I was skipping around and reading a few posts. I saw one aout Jet rolling in Chicken Poo. Shasta, my standard poodle X german shephard cross did the same. She still stunk even after a bath, and the bath matted her fur so badly that I could not get the coat-rake through it. It was not bad before her bath, but was so bad after that I gave up trying. I shaved her instead. It took over 5 hours on Sunday because her coat had grown so thick that I had to thin it with scissors after using a matt splitter on all those matts that had formed!

She looks skinny and funny now, but she seems to like it. I bought her some new spring clothes - a brightly patterned colorful new collar.

She looks far more poodle than GSD, and she can get very destructive if left alone in a room for even a few minutes. If our other dog is with her, she behaves nicely. Luckily she is well crate trained and heads straight for her crate when she come in the house. Sometimes she will hang out on a rug nearby when I'm cokking and the kids are doing homework, but if we don't per her every couple of minutes, she will head for her crate. She has a few chew-toys in it that she ignores.

My silly Russian dog is also one of those dogs that can't not be stuck in a back yard, and stay sane. He needs a lot of attention, and something to do. I am still trying figure out how to keep him entertained. He does very well when we take him home depot. He is a big show off. He loves to shake hands, and paws with people.

Sounds like you have a very smart dog. I can so relate about the mutts still smelling kind of bad after the bath. Jet still smells, but it is much better than before his bath. We used to shear Puppy every year. He had allergies, and having a long coat seemed to make his skin worse. I think it was something in the environment that triggered the skin problems. We are thinking about shaving Jet. I am amazed at how much he sheds hair. I can't seem to keep up on all the hair. It is rather gross when it gets into my sandwich.

I am going to go to bed earlier tonight. I ended up washing to floors her until 3am last night. After that I was feeling rather sick, and had to stay close to the sink. My DDiL explained what I was dealing with for most of the week. I am having a reaction to the perscription cream that I got for the hip pain. I am not going to use it any more. We had salads tonight for dinner. I wanted a Greek pizza, but I needed a dinner that had next to no fat in it. So the pizza will have to wait, until I get the stuff out of my system. I should have read up on the cream stuff.

Hi JB

You can borrow my shaver for Jet - it works well! We shave Shasta every 6 weeks in the spring and summer, but she has not been shaved since October (other than her legs which I shave frequently as they act like velcro when she is near blackberry vines and they tangle badly in her coat). Her hair grows incredibly fast, she looked just like Jet!

I love dogs in general but I will have to say that CR and I are definitely in the Australian Shepherd camp.

One lady who just bought eggs from me shows & sells minature Aussie shepards.I never knew there was such a thing !
