Yeah, I know, but I had a cabinet bator 2 seasons ago, and sold it because I drove myself mad hatching every egg I could get my hands on...lesson learned!

Should I wait to put the mite stuff on my chickens till after my broody hatches her eggs? I don't see any but my easter eggers are molting again. And one is getting peeked a little. I am also thinking of deworming them as I am only getting one maybe 2 eggs a day.

YES Do not disturb her ! DO NOT DUST HER !!!
Provide a dust bath she can get into close by her nest, she WILL eat, drink, and dust bathe then lay a ammonia broody-doody and go back to her eggs.

Oh boy we had a game of chicken football here today, I cleaned and scraped out half my barn where the hay is usually stacked. it was on pallets and the chaff was getting moldy so spring cleaning hit. I spied rat tunnels when I pulled the pallets out... so go get the worthless dog and tell her get em...she snuffs around and goes to town, dug me out a nest of naked rat babies. she is a rottie/chessie mix and worthless as all get out but she will kill rats. so we got them out and I didnt want to watch them die so I gave em to the chickens... HOLY SMOKES!! hahaahaa squawking and running and dodging fighting over the pinkies. most fun they have had all winter!!

Thanks to all that posted a bout buying meat birds (even you CR) just wanted the info for later in the year.
Today I was busy, busy. At least for me that is. Got the old shed pretty well emptied, got it jacked up and the runners bolted on and gave it a test pull with my old truck. No traction, as I figured on the dang grass. Will need to think of something to get it moving. Once that happens it will be a snap to move it to its new location in the back yard.
First though I'm gonna have to strip the siding off, most of it is damp and there's a mold issue that's not really bad, but I hate doing things half way. So I will see what tomorrow brings for this tired old body of mine.

Nice! Today must be "good finds on Craigslist" day! I went and picked up a wine fridge and a mini fridge. Got both for $50. My FIL is going to help me, and we're making 2 cabinet bators out of them. We are going to put plexiglass in the mini fridge door so you can see through it like the wine fridge, and sell that one, keeping the wine fridge one for myself.

SCORE !!!!!!!!!!!

I have wished that SOME chickens would be nocturnal, for that very reason !!!

Hey, can you tell me HOW you make a cabinet bator? Or do you have a good web site to go to you could direct me? I have a smaller upright freezer - still in my kitchen - that I want to make into an incubator. Excuse all the pictures on it.
