Quote: Yes that would be called a scur. It is the result of a disbudding job that was slightly less than perfect.

Yessss, I know..... I didn't do the job myself, I am his third owner. And thanks Robin, I think it does too!! That is one job I am not looking forward too, and I am researching different disbudding irons, I want one that works well and quick! I will probably have to pay a lot more money but, I think it's worth it, if you can do an efficient job in short order. It's bad enough it has to be done, but, after having to rescue several horned goats from down the street, when they were trapped in the fence, it's a necessary evil!

OK THAT is weird!!! My mom is 3rd gen, my great grandparents came over, not sure what year exactly both side of my moms parents were Polish, and my grandma's parents settled in PA in a town near Punxsutawney!!! I really don't know when they moved to MI, I think when my grandma was pretty small. My grandma could play the piano, so can my mom, my uncle plays the accordion and piano, and I play guitar.

Wow, My grandpa played the accordian also and was known for dancing a hole in the soles of his shoes. I actually saw this happen one fine Sunday at a Polish Wedding Reception. I bang away on the piano, well not for a while since the fngers were messed up but maybe I'll start again, but my first love has been the guitar. My wife presented me with a Martin D-41 14 years ago on Valentines Day.

As for bucks wanting to "play". Since I needed to keep the neck muscles built up for show. I put a wood spool in the pen. I taught my bucks that when they were on the spool we could "play". If they came at me while on the ground I would take their feet out from under them and pin them to the ground until they stopped struggling. This was very effective for mine. The reason I did this was that some times I would need somebody to care for the goats while we were gone. I also educated them about the "HOT SHOT" and told the helpers to carry it anytime they needed to go in the pen. One little push of the button and they boyz would back off because they knew what went along with that buzzing sound.
I was not mean to these guys but I also was not about to take a chance of somebody getting hurt so I taught my bucks some basic manners.

DANG IT JIM ! ! ! just a few months ago I sold a very good iron for too cheap. Let me look I may still have the smaller one. You could have it you would just have to buy the tip for big goats. Also I would really like share info with you about burning and PLEASE don't use one of those STUPID BOXES to put the kid in.
