my rule of thumb is the chicks drop 5 degrees per week... so either they are 6-8 weeks or they are fully feathered... (under the wings as well) before they go outside with no heat.

Question for Western WA locals. Considering local weather, when would be good time to introduce chicks to outside? They are only 1 1/2 weeks right now. I'm assuming its still too chilly for them?

I agree with all previous posts. You'll have a good idea when it's time to move them outside. When mine refused to clean up after themselves and were playing music way too loud I told 'em "that's it - you guys are outta here!" We've all gotten along much better since then. Sure I worried at first, but they've grown into mature happy hens, so all is well in the end.Thank you all on your responses to when to take the chicks out. I think I will wait a few more weeks then play it by ear depending if we get some warmer days.
