Eryngium. Not invasive in my experience in our region, but can be pushy in the garden. "Doesn't like to share with others". Not easy to remove once it's in there, but no, not invasive. But then again, my Linnaria self-sowed and was pretty in Seattle and is downright annoying here in the Chehalis valley. My book (Sunset Western Garden Guide--gotta have it) says to sow in place. I have never planted this plant, only maintained it. Very beautiful. Also, apparently sensitive to winter wetness and slugs, so sow them in a well drained, sunny location. Not a thistle relative. Carrot family, Apiaceae, apparently.

Thanks ! I have a WGB also, but am being lazy today (Ha !not ever going to happen !)
Yes Linnaria will self sow.....we have enough of that going on with tomitillos and Nasty-stutiams !!!!!!!

TOOK OVER the garden !

we have decided that pettec63 is in fact, reincarnated from another life as an italian...........

hence her sudden profuse love of things italian

I am going to have to try your Mediterranean Bay Leaf. I use bay leaf from the grocery store very frequently, but I am always interested in less common or mislabeled varieties of spices.

Umm, Christina? The bay leaves I brought over when we made chicken stock were from Rainwolf.

Well I finally caught up !
Now here is a few pics of the chicken tracter Einstein has been building (1 of 2 we have to build, maybe)
IF the first shipment of meaties & out of the tracter & into the freezer in time for the 2nd shipment, then we won't have to have 2.

Einstein has to add a hitch for the front so we can pull the tracter with a tracter, up to the top of the hill , then daily we can easily move it down the hill, then pull it back up to the top again with the tracter.
This is my replacement for a goat !!

Very nice. Now tell him to come here...bring me my turkeys...and build my coop I want. or at least show me how. LOL. Guess I better not hold my breath on this one. they do look very handy though.

Okay, so here is my new vehicle, monthly payment less, little less insurance, and lot less $$$$ for gas. It is fun to drive...I gotta be careful...gonna get myself in trouble:

OMGosh. I love it! I want one:)
I"m driving a hand me down, beat up Neon. It's a hand me down from my oldest daughter. Aren't we suppose to hand down the cars to the kids...not the other way around?

Mike: I will not even bother you with all the "girl stuff" that I have problems with...TMI...

but I still need to learn how to handle this eating every 2 hours...and healthy...just had an "episode" at Home Depot. Had to slug down a KitKat or fall over. You are right..not for wimps.

Of course I say this as I am home now and I am eating a left over brautworst and some chips and diet 7-up. Ya. I need to change eating habits. I'lll start tomorrow.

4cats3kids1hubby2many,

Have you looked into joist hangers? They make framing SO MUCH EASIER!! You can get them at Home Depot in the 'fastener' aisle. I also highly recommend that if you're going to try it yourself that you use screws (galvanized, please, or they'll rust) so if you make a mistake you can fix it much easier than if you used nails. Get two drills - one with the appropriate bit on it to pre-drill the hole and one with a driver bit on it to screw in the screws. What else... Ummm... Measure twice, cut once? Spend the extra $$ on pressure treated wood and have your structure last ages longer than if you had saved. Um... Yeah. That's all I got in the morning.

If I wasn't so far away, I'd come teach you - or do it for you while you made me food - but just the thought of driving to Omak makes my butt hurt and my eyes all gooey.

Oh my gosh....if you came to build/show me how...I would feed you so good you would be rolling home. BTW....did I ever mention I can make a mean apple pie. how about roasted veggies, BBQ (traeger) Flat iron steaks, Big salad, apple pie, corn on the cob (BBQd of course)..what else can I come up with? Baked beans. choice of beverage....I make a mean watermelon margarita (I personally can no longer drink these).

I am of course joking...way to far for you. But thank you for the info. I have used the fastners on other projects and will use them. They make mylife so much easier. Any other points...please let me know. I will be doing this. Thank you for the info.
