Hello all - I'm sadly a newbie to this site & thread.. But I'd like to say hello from Marysville area =) I just last nite in fact started a Community Page on FB for Chicken Lovers of Washington State https://www.facebook.com/ChickenLoversofWashingtonState (if interested in taking a peek)-- Someone asked me if I had joined this thread, well here I am =) Glad to meet you all. =)

We moved up here last month from the city in California. We as in myself, son, & Parents (Family thing).... They were from here & I was born here.. so it feels like home ;) So since we moved to a house with 5 acres we have started our first flock =) Wound up with quite a few so far, but some are for "show" hopefully for my son & maybe myself. My mother also got into getting a couple "rare" types so needless to say our only having a couple egg layers, didnt end up being a couple...hahahaha

So far we have managed to get:

(2) Rhode Island Red
(3) Barred Rock
(2) Golden-Laced Wyandottes
(1) Iowa Blue
(1) Silver Lakenvelder (show?)
(1) Russian Orloff
(2) Buff Orpington
(2) Blue Sumatra (but my Sumatra passed away =( ) (show?)

(3) d'Uccle Bantam (Porcelain,Golden Neck & a White Mille Fleur) (show)<-- my mothers babies
(2) Silver Duckwing Old English Bantam (show, pet)
(2) Black Old English Bantam (I think..we have no idea really...lol) (show)
(4) Frizzle Bantam (Black,Blue,Buff,White) (show,pet)

We do have maybe planned in future to breed a couple to keep our flock lines going =)

Since we just got the Frizzle Bantams on the 19th. Quick question to anyone who by chance knows or has had a Blue Frizzle... My lil "BlueBelle" -Pullet - Bleu -Rooster has white wing feathers that came in.. Is there a reason for them to be White instead of the "blue" that they are deemed to be? Just curious. My Frizzle I had yrs ago was Black, so the color wasnt off beat from what he was, so far like my lil Blue Golfball is....She/He is just the cutest lil tiny thing...

Thank you bunches =)

This is the place to be. Lots of info just for the asking. Very, very fast pace. So, from one newbie to another, just jump right in.

We are having an auction to raise money for our Boy Scout troop to go to Camp. We have some really neat birds donated by breeders at the poultry show in Stevenson. It will be in Graham Friday night. If anyone is local and interested in getting started in birds, this would be a great opportunity to start with unusual wonderful birds and help a good cause. Here is my FB post if anyone is interested in posting a bid with me or attending:

OK. Here are the generous donations I got for our Boy Scout Auction at the poultry show this weekend. These are lovely chicks from top breeders- not hatchery stock. I would LOVE to solicit bids on these birds from people who cannot attend the auction itself. ( The auction is at 6:00 pm, Friday night, free spaghetti dinner cooked by world famous chef Tom Barney with auction to follow. The auction is at our church building in Graham 6901 224th St. E.)

I am having a blast with my chickens and other poultry. However, my turkeys have got me beyond confused... the one tom has decided to sit a nest of eggs the girls have laid.

I don't know anything about turkeys - but your pictures gave me a good laugh this morning. I hope you figure out how to get your turkeys to not be so "broody".

Thank you for the warm Welcomes =) Glad to be here & share the progress of our new family members =)

Tho my lil BlueBelle is so very cute... I do have to admit, my mothers one d'Uccle is by far the cutest thing I have ever see ... We had planned on only 2 of the d'Uccles..but when the lady who was helping us held her up, she was utterly & completey one we HAD to bring home too. I just kind of wish there was one I could of picked out too just like her.. we named her "Porsha" since she zoom, zooms all over the place like a little speed racer... She reminds me of a Snow Owl...with those beedy eyes & foof up on her cheeks...she looks at you kinda of like "Puss N' Boots" -- "I can do no wrong"......Course she looks cuddly, but she's not so cuddly...catching her is another tale to tell...lol -- Porsha's the lil white one in the middle of the photo..then the Orloff or Rhodes,Orpington at top & 2 other d'Uccles at the bottom.
