I really don't want to get up and clean the kitchen. Yesterday was impossible to get anything done, so I have 2 days worth of dishes to load. Nasty!

Where's a cheap place to get mealworms? The cheapest I can find is 1lb for $16 at Seattle Farm Supply. That's quite a drive for me! Almost an hour away :(

Here's my RIR at 8 Weeks. See the red coming in? Still a pullet?

I took the shot through the cage wire, so that covers her up some. I didn't feel like playing a game of chicken chase in the rain.

Most deffinatly a young lady.. My RIR I had to get rid of was a roo and he had a bigger comb than that at 4 weeks. It was insane.. lol :) And super red..lol

My chicks and my cat.
All my silkies came out blue and my Silkie/EE mix is the big black chick in the picture. It has black skin and I saw an extra toe on one foot this morning.

Soooooo stinkin cute! Love the cat checking things out! Mine would think it was a meal just waiting for them. Well one of them would, my others could care less. Those are some adorable chicks!

It has been a busy week. My Girl Scouts bridged from Daisy's to Brownies, including my daughter.. They were sooo cute, then both my kids had dress rehersal for recitals. My son for ballet and my daughter for ballet and jazz. Tonight are recitals and tomorrow my Girl Scouts are part of the Color Guard for the Parade. And this rain is just insane! It makes me sooo grouchy! I live practically in the desert and I have mushrooms growing in my yard. Ha Ha. my girls keep giving me the stink eye. They are tired of it as well.. Congrats to all with new chicks! Hugs to those who have lost. Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!!!!

Oh my heck the mealworms.... lol That caused a chaos like no other..lol There were plenty for them all but if one had one in her mouth someone else wanted that same one.. So there was one being passed around by them all, while the others just laid there. It was hilarious! They finally clued in.. Silly Silly Girls! Thank you for providing that entertainment..lol
let me know and I will give you another bag full. They are a fun treat.

Elisabeth says.. Please please please.. HA HA! She is in charge of the wormy treats!!!

So this morning I went out to check on Burtha and her chicks (silkies) and the one and only yellow/white one was not really walking around at all. She was just standing there. Then I watched Burtha with her big ol feet step and stand on the chick. My DD said that she saw this same thing happen this morning to that same chick. I am not sure if it was sick to begin with and that is why she kept getting steped on sense she would not move out of the way when momma was coming threw. So I brought her in and dipped her beak into the water a few times. She just kept shaking her head every time I did it. She is very lethargic and week. Then I noticed that she has lice! Yeah! I grabed a bowl of DE and rubbed her down with it, trying to rub it into her fur/feathers hoping that will help. But I have this stuff called Insectrin Dust (Permethrin) for lice but I don't know how young is too young for chickens and chicks. It sais you can use it on dogs and cat just not kittens and pups. Does any one know if I can use it on week old chicks?????
