Thank you for the information. You are a wealth of knowledge. I may not be able to do this at this time - but I know others will love the information also. I will have to keep this information for later though.
Get a few brand new garbage cans....and a bag of Palouse rolled oats (or any brand) and a bag of scratch and at Walmart they have bags of shelled sunflower seeds.
Mix all in the garbage cans.
You can add a bit of DE also & other seeds your birds like.
I add a bag of Turkey starter as well.
Mix it really good & the birds love it !

My Serama from 4hmom laid her first egg today!
To bad I have 3 hens from the hatch no cockerels...
Creame Caramel, Dark Chocolate and Tiny are doing great!
Caramel laid the first egg today!... waiting on chocolate and tiny....
She has a cockerel up for grabs, I think. It's back a handful of pages.

I still have a Partridge Cochin (LF) Cockerel free....................he was a surprise from McMurry when I got the cornballs............he is the fattest cutest little butterball !
PM me if interested.

Looking at making red ameraucanas. I have been looking at the red orpingtons, but I don't want to put out the $$$ for one of those. The buckeye already has a pea comb, there are two drawbacks: yellow skin and the black in the tail.

I just bred a Spangled Russian Orloff to my BBS Ams & hatched 100% chocolate/Partridge looking chicks.
So far, they are about 3-4 weeks old.
Blue shanks seem to dominate over the yellow shanks.

So it may work...the Buckeyes do have a Long back though.
Want eggs ?

Pips~ maybe contact pettec63, I gave her a mess of Bucks a few weeks ago, if you need a chick or two.
I do have a few almost ready to mate cockerels here in the bachelor pad, but do not ship birds, would have to meet up or pass the bird over the hill to you.
Sounds like a cool project, though !
PM me if ya need me.

I have to get out there & take a few pics of the resulting chicks from the Orloff X BBS Ams.........................I was hoping for a spangled pattern, but that has not been the case, look more partridge.
It is fun though !!

How to Store Animal Feed

February 12, 2011 By Annie
When you have a good number of animals on your farm, you have to figure out a way to store their feed. If you have enough animals, I suppose you could have a silo. You could call the feed mill and get them to deliver your feed mix and dump it right into the silo.
Silos are expensive though. Maybe you don’t have enough animals to make getting a silo worth while. Or maybe, like me, you are a cheap Dutch girl. Here’s what we do:

We go to the local shopping mall (read DUMP) and shop for freezers. When people get a new deep freeze, what do they do with the old one? In our area they bring them to the dump. We get feed storage freezers for free.
