I am really angry with myself. I allowed myself to be duped to drive all the way to Issaquah to sit in a parking lot for an hour and have someone no show to pick up two cockerels - that I held for two days.

All in rush-hour traffic, and when I should have been helping our school pack the classrooms for a move.

UGH!!! And the worst part is that this is the SECOND time I've "sold" these little guys.

No - actually - the worst part of this is the stress these poor little boys went through - it was well over three hours in my car

I have now made a "Craigslist Blacklist" with email, name, and events that led up to the no-show or otherwise flaking out.

My list has a total of three people now.

I will share my "Craiglist Blacklist" with anyone that would like it. If you have one - I'd love to add names/emails to my list as well.

I've also set up all new policies, including *MUST* include a phone number, must paypal payment within 24 hours for me to hold more than 24 hours, must paypal payment before delivery, I will only sit for so long, etc.

I really HATE that I have to do this!
Does anyone else have these issues? I have not ever had these issues buying/selling on Craiglist - we even bought our van on CL! It's just the chicken sales!

I'd love it if you'd PM me a copy of the Blacklist. I do lots of stuff on Craigslist and mostly I get people backing out after they've committed, but never had someone do all that to me. Yikes! I like the idea of PayPal. I just wonder if there'd be push back on that from people not wanting to pay before getting delivery. I always worry about offending people. Is that a bad character trait? Seems to be...

Gosh, that really sucks Dawn!! I'm so sorry someone did that to you, what a punk! Did you get in contact with them today before you drove? Phone number? E-mail? eesh, I'd be flamin' mad if someone did that to me!

I actually had the opposite happen to us yesterday; we put an ad on Craigslist selling our dog kennel chain link fencing and within an hour someone wanted to come see it. She came and I thought she was going to take it with her but she asked if we would hold it for her; she insisted on giving us money for it right then and there just to hold it until Sunday! I've never had someone insist on giving me money when we already told her we didn't mind suspending the ad and holding it for free. Funny lady.

So all my birds have diarrhea, probably from the antibiotic. They have been switched back to plain water with vitamins and electrolytes and Princess is doing fine now, other than the same diarrhea from the antibiotic. I can't believe all that was stress, it was pretty ridiculous how bad off she was for so many days. But now she's so fine, actually, that she's in with everyone else and no special treatment whatsoever. Craziness. I hope it doesn't take long for the diarrhea to go away, it's nasty when 10 birds in a 128s/f run all have the runs!

Yep - was in contact via email; had a phone number (which I didn't call before I got to the meetup location - bad move #1).

Person seemed professional, even postponed from yesterday, all via email. I got to the meetup location at the specified time and called the number.

The phone number was "out of service".

I emailed twice while sitting there, nothing. Still no contact - five hours after the meeting time.

I just don't understand why one person would want to make another person lose time and money, not to mention stressing out animals?

Is it supposed to be funny?

I'm glad that this doesn't seem to be the norm. I have had a couple good chicken CL transactions, but now officially more bad than good.

This was the first time I'd offered to deliver - for a fee. I thought it might help folks that didnt' want to drive to our area.

I have had pretty good luck with CL and roosters. I have never driven anywhere to meet someone though. They have to come here and my roos arent free. Usually a $10.00 price tag weeds out the deadbeats.

The worst time was over a $30.00 couch. I had 2 parties that really wanted it but wouldn't show up when they were suppose to. One of them eventually took it but it took several day.

Sorry about the wasted trip-in this weather it has to be so frustrating.

I thought I'd share a little project I just did. We found an antique cast iron counter top scale last week end.

AFTER
It's not like CR's sandblasting and powder coating, but I think it came out pretty well

*sigh* So I went to check the run just now; food looked a little weird. I walked in the run and yes, it was all wet! Rain does get in the covered run because it runs off the coop roof and the splashing of the rain was getting in the feeder. So now I just lost several pounds of Scratch and Peck. I will change it out in the morning and then relocate it to a place in the run where it won't get wet. That's such a bummer!

Tomorrow is Reber Ranch's customer appreciation sale. I got a $10off a $50 purchase card so I'm going to go take advantage of that; might get another feeder and waterer to use across the yard on sunny days, and possibly (if it doesn't add up yet) stock up on my first bag of layer. I can put it in my deep freezer and it should hold another 7-8 weeks when we switch to Layer feed. Fun stuff! There's a hay ride (rain? yuck!), free coffee and donuts in the morning, pet food reps (maybe sample of chicken feed or cat stuff for my kitty). We'll see how it goes.

Sorry that happened to you Dawn. I have had a few problems with no shows from CL, but I've never tried to sell anything "chicken". I usually ask people to meet me down at the Starbucks a couple of miles from my house - that way, if I want, I can go in and have a coffee and wait a while. And, if they don't show, at least feel like I treated myself for the hassle and it wasn't a completely wasted trip.

That's good to know! I'm tempted to get his RIRs but I am nervous about adding more birds to the flock now after what happened with Princess. Poor thing scared the heck out of me and she wasn't even sick, just stressed out!
Jump fast if ya want em. That pen MUST be empty by 7:00am Sunday. $30 for 3 hens and one cock

Ahhh, man. That sucks. How can anyone do that? People just suck sometimes!

My biggest issue is people that list items then don't respond to your inquiry. Seriously, if its sold; a simple email back that its gone would be nice. And don't leave your darn ad up for an entire week if someone already picked up the item. That has happened to me SEVERAL times lately.

I always respond to all legit inquiries on my CL ads. And remove my ad as soon as item is gone.
