My sick buttercup woke us up this morning with loud "chook" noises. She's more alert, eating and drinking on her own if the dish is in front of her. She will only eat wet crumbles, spits it out if it's dry. She is still laying on her side, but can move her legs and push them against my hand when I pick her up and hold her. She still can't put any weight on them, she instantly falls over.

The chlorine solution that ChickieLady informed me of is really working! Princess Buttercup was up on her legs this evening, actively pecking at dry crumbles, and she'd try to walk, take about three steps and then fall over. At least she isn't giving up! She's plucky!

Also, she's no longer opening her beak over and over trying to breathe.

I had to cover her up and make her box completely dark in order for her to stop clucking and go to sleep...I'll keep her out of the coop until she can completely walk again, I have a feeling my other 19 birds will cull her on their own if she is out there. Also, I don't know how much longer she's contagious for. No other birds are showing any symptoms. I'm starting the solution in their water tomorrow.

Off to bed. I have an old Army friend in town visiting from Ohio with her 14yo DD, and in the mng we are driving up to Seattle. Got tickets to the King Tut exhibit, checking out the Space Needle, and Pike's Place Market. Then we are heading down to Tukwila to IflySeattle to do a little wind tunnel action! woohoo! (My DH is a skydive instructor out here in Shelton).

My DS and DD are in for a LONG DAY.

I went to get my gas can today and some person/s of low character, apparently with a family tree that resembles a stick, has absconded with my said property. I am thoroughly p-o ed.
Oh, I would be massively POd too! Maybe the jerks will set themselves on fire with the fuel.

I'm in Onalaska which is 10 miles east of I-5 on Highway 508 just a little South of Chehalis WA.
Just moved back from Hawaii and was so lucky to find this five acres for a real good price. I am hoping to buy the place, I love it here.
2 Buff Orpingtons, 8 Black Australorp, 2 EE 2 unidentified reds and one adorable Turkey Bird.

Great photo of your birds, as others have said.

What were Princess Buttercup's symptoms again? All my birds are adjusting well (Finally!!) to having Princess around, but they all have watery poops; increasingly watery. NO other symptoms. Currently then whole flock of 10 is on Durvet Vitamins and Electrolytes supplement in their water and about a Tbsp. of yogurt/each once a day. Watery poop seems to be getting worse, but no blood or diarrhea, more like caecal poops + normal poops both with tons of excess water. Should I do the bleach solution too, even though there's no respiratory symptoms?

My glove box was open when I got in the car in the morning- sure enough - my GPS was gone.

The only good thing is that I have the serial number; so if they do try to pawn it at a shop they will go where they belong and I will get it back!
Grrr!! Sorry you were also the victim of low lifes, Dawn.

I've been on BYC for over a year but have not formally introduced myself to fellow Washingtonians. After 35 years in Seattle, retirement from UW Dept of Surgery, I am happily playing in the sun with my critters! Tri-Cities area. You all are great--just like our wonderful state!
Kathy
Well then, here is a formal welcome!
