I enjoy seeing your garden.

My goodness guys!!! I would give anything....almost anything for the 85deg weather those on the west side have been having! We're dealing with a whopping 102 in the Trikes!! It actually hurts to be outside!!! My feathered friends have been getting their run and several shaded areas in the field wet down and ice in their water buckets. I really feel bad for my broody hen. We've put a frozen water bottle in the pen with her and ice in her water. I need to get the shade put up in the window!! I've lived here my whole life but I still can't stand it when the temp goes over 85!!!

The coop temp is 94° F. And, that is with the side roof propped open all day. I hope it cools off before dusk.

The run is 80° F with a box fan blowing through. They seem fine. They have ice water and they've been hanging out in front of the fan most of the afternoon once they got over the fear of it.

A difference I noticed between Western Washington and Eastern Washington.... last week while we were at Lake Chelan, the days were hot, but the evenings were very chilly. As soon as the sun went down, everyone was sitting around saying how c-c-c-old they were.

Here in W. Washington, when we get hot days like this one, it doesn't seem to cool off as much in the evening. If the coop doesn't cool off, that could be a problem. I have a very small coop and no way to hang a fan. I can't leave the roof propped open because of predators.

Saturday it reached 108 here and with the high humidity it felt much hotter, just like an oven. just standing outside you start to sweat.

HEY!!! I resemble that statement!!!

Look at my coop page.

That's awesome! You hung pictures, too! Love it! After the coop was done, I told my husband they needed some pictures to look at. Did you know that a chicken isn't the only creature on earth that will give you stink eye? LOL!

And see that is why with most of my items I let the viewer see what they may. Now that it has been pointed out yes I do see it. However it is intended to be a foal. Lots of people see the foal and some don't but mikey you are the first to point out the dog.

See it's all about perspective!

I saw the foal! Very nicely done.

Quote: Had those too for awhile, but they got really nasty!

I did take the curtains down after awhile because I put hardware cloth on the window frame and a roost in front of the window. I didn't want them pooping all over them. I don't have the roost there anymore but haven't put the curtains back up. Needed new ones anyway.

I plan to have curtains over the nest boxes too. I think it's just nice for the girls ;) DH thinks everything I do is nuts so this will be no different.

Renee if you want to pack the kids up now and meet me at the Auburn splash park that's where we're going with a bunch of friends. Free lunch is at 11:30-12:30 and I plan to arrive right at 11:30. Then we'll splash around a bit and go home for naps. It's at the library, or Les Gove park. Text me if you're coming!

I've thought about painting a picture of a window with curtains inside the door. In my spare time... if I can find some.

Speaking of time, I've killed enough. Busy, busy week this week. I'll be helping at Cub Scout Camp Tue-Fri. Today, I must dare to take the kids into a store to take care of some errands. Summer shopping w/kids in tow =

"Mom, can we have...?"
"No."
"Mom can we get...?"
"No."
Mom we want..."
"What does the word "No" mean?"
"I don't know."
