CL what about the birds that are on medicated feed they shouldnt be used should they?
Like what kind of medication ?
Amprolium is Ok as far as I know, we give Corid in the water of our Corn X's as they are raised on Turkey feed (high protein)
I withdraw feed for 12 hrs before processing.
If you have birds on medications, the bottle usually says if there is a withdrawal period for eating eggs or slaughter.

Momma Blue Copper Marans has hatched her eggs...out of 5, 4 hatched, 1 was no good.
She is doing great with her babies.
They hatched Saturday and are outside right now...enjoying the sun.

I officially have 16 cut up chickens in the freezer. It took me longer than I had hoped to de-bone all the breast and tender meat. But I have got it all vacuum packed and in three different freezers. I am hoping that once it's all frozen, that I can get it all into one freezer.

I will admit that I am rather done in. But I still need to go get my nails done before they fall off again.

I am getting better at going more often, otherwise it can be rather awkward.

It makes me feel tired just thinking about the other 10 birds I still need to get done. At least I am looking forward to having a true Freezer Camp Class this year.

If anyone else is interested, just let me know before Saturday morning. You will need to PM me to get my address and phone number. I should have extra practice birds for anyone that doesn't have their own bird. Everyone attending should plan on going home with fresh chicken.
Ok so Im so going to try and do this, what time again? I just will need a soft place to fall if I pass out

Yes you had better have a chair to sit in !!

**** And remember, the animal (bird) is NOT dead, it will be killed****
THEN it will be dead.
Alot of folks have no problem with dead stuff, it's the killing that freaks them out.
After 20-30 you'll be fine.

My husband loves your profile pic and wants to know if they are from your farm.

So CL, why don't you just come right out with it instead of pussyfooting around. Tell them all about the blood spurting everywhere, and all over you. And the horrible noise and gurgling sounds, and the terrible flapping of wings and the moaning and sighing as they eventually pass out from loss of blood.

And then there's that disgusting noise they make when you put your hand inside and the lungs expel the air from the cut esophagus - sounds eerie and ghostly to me. And if you push just right, you can make them give off a squawking noise even without heads.

And we aren't even going to talk about the smell. . .

But, apart from that it's not too bad.
