Good luck Renee! I'm laying here in the hotel waiting for the pain meds to kick in so I can help finish packing up to come home! So glad to get home to my girls and my kitty <3 we had a great vacation though :)

What did you do to yourself?  I'm glad you had a good time.  Have a safe trip.

Same old nerve and joint pain in my neck, shoulders, and arms as usual, only I more than just a little bit overdid it on this trip. I have an appointment with a pain specialist on the 4th!

Quote from KHunter

Believe me when I say that although there are squabbles and bickering going on here right now with some, most of the time things get worked out. And we (as in this group) would do the best we could to come to your aid if ever there was a need for it. I started out just reading and asking questions. I took what I could use from the answers and ignored what didn't work for me. I didn't or tried not to get upset if someone was a little abrupt in their reply, I looked at it as information.
AND as you pointed out so wonerfully, we lose tone of voice, facial expressions and emotion through text. I am all for suggesting we use the emoticons whenever we can to express emotions.
Oh wait, Emoticons....Emotions. Huh, what do you know.

This is just a thought and a suggestion.

Great suggestion Kim

I have found that since I stared to use the emoticons more that, I have not had nearly as many problems with misunderstandings. I think that Kim is very correct about the use emoticons to express emotional tone to our posts.

I personally rarely take offence at others posts. I haven't met many members of this thread that truly try to be offensive on purpose. I have know a few that don't season their thoughts with salt. But having gotten to know them better, I still think that we have a wonderful family here. We all have much to give and share.

I know that for me, this is one of the only places in my life that I feel free to be myself. I have found that over the years, that I tend to offend most people sooner or later. If someone was to truly know me, then they will know that I would rather die than hurt another person intentionally.

I completely understand about having difficulties. I find that as my pain levels rise, that it is much more difficult to communicate nicely. So for me sometimes I find that it's better for me to take a break. I still need everyone here though, and that includes all the new people too. This is a very fluid group of friends. It's wonderful to hear from those that have been around for years, but it's great to get to know new people.

There will always be people that simply rub us the wrong way at times. It can be hard to pass somethings by at times. For me I would rather assume another person doesn't have evil intentions towards me. I have found that by choosing to not be offended by much, that I am a much happier person. I do know that if a person looks to be offend, that they will always be offended. Offence is the only thing that can be found every time a person looks for it.

I often don't post when I am not certain about how to respond. I find that it can be hard sometimes to know what to say at times. Still I truly love this group of people.

For new ones it helps the rest of us to get to know you when you post. By sharing the bits and pieces of our daily lives, we get to really know each other. I know that it can be hard at times to keep up with the thread. Still I have found that sometimes a person simply has to take a leap of faith and jump in to the deep end with the rest of the group.

Is anyone available to ride shotgun with me tomorrow? I am heading out to the coast to return CL's plucker. I can meet up with you anywhere from Federal Way and south on I-5. I will be heading out Hwy 410 in the morning. Knowing me it won't be much before 9 am before I get myself out of the house.

PM me if you want to spend the day visiting CL and Gary.

And since I've been busy posting photos, here is one more cockerel looking for a new home. I'm offerering him to BYC'ers before I put him on Craigslist. This is my 4 month old Serama, "Skippy", but you can call him whatever you choose provided you do not call him "Dinner". He's too small for that anyway.

He was hatched on Mother's Day from Castle Delight Serama eggs. Raised in the house and handled every day, he is very sweet and LOVES attention! He spends his nights in a bunny cage inside the house, but enjoys days in his 16 sq. ft. covered X-pen for a little more room and sunshine. He is crowing but I haven't been ratted out by the neighbors yet, since I do try to be considerate and only put him out after 9 AM and bring him in before 8 PM.

He is definitely pet quality since he appears to have a long back and "willow" colored legs rather than the brilliant golden yellow legs preferred for Seramas. He would be a great children's pet or house chicken or would enjoy the company of other chickens. He has not been out free ranging at all or with LF.

His comb is a bit beat up (you can see if you look very closely) as "Marco" my other Serama cockerel was showing him who was boss before I separated them into their own cages, but there are no chunks taken from the comb. If you're interested, he is VERY reasonably priced. PM me.

For your consideration: "Skippy"

Uh oh... Bradley Farm is a local breeder within 30 minutes of me (Tacoma/University Place) and Anthony, the man who runs the place is a very nice young man. I'm not adding any chickens OR ducks to my place in the near future, but if anyone is looking for any of these breeds or birds I can hook you up with the phone number and address! I've gone out to Bradley Farm before and he has a nice, clean little operation. Pretty, healthy birds! (And dwarf Nubian goats, pigs, dogs)

Chick and Duckling Sale!

We have approximately 100 chicks and ducklings that are between 1 day and 2 weeks old that are ready for their new homes. All of the chicks are only $3.00 each, and if you buy 5 you get 1 free! This sale is available all weekend long and you can mix and match chicks and ducklings. Now is a good time to get chickens that will be ready to lay by next spring, so take advantage and stock up! We currently have Delawares, Lavender Orpingtons, Exchequer Leghorns, White Jersey Giants, and Dorkings available.

I remember you talking about the LEGO FIRST robotics league. I think that would be a great arena for him to excel in. Lots of very intelligent and very quirky people there. I was a part time instructor and a current mentor at Aviation High School (which has a strong robotics program) and in a specialized setting like that where kids are allowed to discover their strengths and be smart, it's often impossible to tell the autistic apart from the merely very bright.

From what I've seen, autistic people are often brilliant. I've been told Microsoft is filled with very talented workers who are autistic. With their intelligence and with you as a mom, I have no doubt your sons will be amazing.

Oh, you have got to be kidding?!!! My husband and I were just talking about the Aviation High School the other day. We were thinking that might be a good high school for our oldest to go to - when he gets old enough. I told him I would check into the requirements and see what we needed to do to make that happen for him, if that's what our son wants to do. He's only 10, and going into 5th grade - but time flies, and if there is something we need to do to make sure he can go into a field that he'll be great in, we're all for trying to get him there.

My husband and I both have aviation backgrounds. I worked at Boeing for 10 years - developing Computer Based Training for Commerical Training and then for F-22. Then, I quit and went to Microsoft where I was a 3D animator for Flight Sim and Combat Flight Sim (old PC-based programs - no longer being made). My husband has worked at Boeing for 20-some years (too long to remember any more).

Just today, my oldest son brought my old Flight Sim box over to me and asked me to get our old PC working again (the one I used when I was developing for Microsoft - the ACES team was cool, if I bought my own equipment and software, I was allowed to telecommute - which I did, if it meant I didn't have to drive 100 miles each day). My son wants to learn to fly an airplane. I told him I'd see what I could do. I'm not really looking forward to tearing into that old computer, but I will, if need be.
