T-Hi and I had a wonderful time today. We went to visit with CL and Gary. I needed to return the plucker, and Toni had feed bags for CL. The trip out to Raymond is not really all that long. It was a truly gorgeous day. The traffic leaving Tacoma was very heavy this morning, but we made it without any problems.

Aww, I bet he'd appreciate a visit! Did you really get a new car?
No it's not a NEW car just a new car.

2000 Saturn that I got real cheap for a few hours labor. I am NOT a car kind of guy and it is a pain to get into but I am lovin the $$ savings in gas ! ! !

Well, my BF said tonight that he wanted to build the new coop to commemorate our first anniversary because we both love the chickens so much! He even said we should sign our names on it together. Like others here, my man can tell how happy our chickens make me and how much more enjoyable his life is for it too.

I think I love your husband.

Ditto!

She was being horribly abused by the rest of my girls. They're mean.

Aww, that's unfortunate, poor dear. What breed is she? Was she the only one getting bullied?

I think they are drop shippers for Meyers Hatchery.

Really? Where did you hear that? Just curious as I had not heard it before.

I got my first egg from my barred rock about a hour ago. When I checked the box.

Congrats :) So cool !!!!
Ugh, I think someone was listening when I said that we could afford to build the coop and get nice birds. Our dog is spending the night in the ER tonight.

She has been examined by a neurologist, and the diagnosis is vestibular disease (nasty-bad vertigo), most likely from a stroke or brain tumor. Hooray. If it's a stroke, she'll be our second greyhound to have one. If it's a brain tumor, that would at least be new. (We lost our first two greyhounds to bone cancer at ages 6 and 11.) She turns 13 this month, so she's reached a ripe old age for a large dog. She's already showing signs of improvement, and we are hoping that by tomorrow she will be ready to come home. We'll have to make an appointment at her regular vet for a follow up and some blood work to see of she needs to go on medication to prevent blood clots or anything else. (She's already on meds for seizures and incontinence!) With all that, she will probably be right around our average price tag for a greyhound emergency: $1,000.

Time to start pinching pennies. *sigh*

Im so sorry.... Im sure its worrisome and frustrating all in one . I wish I had some good advice or wisdom to offer. I hope it works out for the best:)

I'm so far behind, starting work this week has been good. I love to see the new little ones and the parents on the first day of school. I have to say it breaks my heart to see the little ones who are really scared to get on the bus, I'm thinking next year I'm going to send a card to the new ones with a picture of me and the big yellow bus so maybe it wont seem so over whelming for them.

We have 6 drivers leave this summer to Oct so that will be nice when bid time comes up in Oct.

The one thing I'm not looking forward is when everyone is sick and wanting a hug from me.

Our daughter got a card in the mail with a picture of her new teacher on it. We've never seen a card like that before - and we thought it was pretty cool! It's like a Christmas photo card - just not holiday themed.

Oh boy! William just got into a yellow jacket nest and got stung 10 times! He's only 2!

Poor guy is a tough little booger and is just sitting watching a movie, but I bet he'll be knocked out soon. About 5 of the 10 stings were swelling like crazy so we gave him a huge (for his age) dose of Benadryl and put a baking soda paste with bandaids over the worst ones. What a rotten day for him! Isaac is leaving now to pick up some spray for the front yard to get rid of the nest. Argh!!!!!

Poor William! Do you, by chance, have a snake bite kit? I know - like everyone has one of those.

My husband pulled his kit out when my daughter got stung and it pulled the stinger right out. I was impressed - impressed that he had a snake bite kit, for one, and impressed that it worked. After the stinger was out, it healed quickly.
