OK well just in case anyone is thinking of adopting another dog. Im trying to help my mother rehome her basset "Tank."

‎6 year old Basset hound up for adoption!

Tank is a lovable energetic dog who needs someone who has time for him. Up to date on all medical care, fle and tick treatment, worming, shots, nails trimmed. He is a well loved dog. Microchipped, but the information was never transfered into my Mothers name. His curent vet is at tender touch animal hospital in Kingston.

Tank would really benefit from a fenced in yard, or a family who wants a walking partner. He is a big goof ball, loves to play, loves to run and follow his nose! Balls, rope toys, sticks, he loves to play. Is great with people of all ages! From toddlers who climb and pull on his ears and tail, to adults! Gets along with other dogs, and cats!

I've worked extensively with him on ignoring the chickens. He no longer chases them, but watches. Not sure I would trust him off leash or alone with any fowl though.

My 13 year old Brother has completely lost interest in his dog. He gets tied up during the day, and crated at night. I feel bad for him, and would take him myself if it wasnt for the lack of time. I will miss this dog when I find him a new home. He's free to the right home.

Cheryl, just this afternoon someone on the NW Serama facebook thread was asking if anyone had any free dogs available since their mothers dog was getting blind and deaf. I passed your information along and she gave me her phone number to give to you.

I'll pm you or maybe someone here with Cheryl's phone number could give me her number or ask her to pm me so I can get these two parties together and see if this dog can find a new happy home?

Quote: No, lift them a bit with your foot and scoot them away saying back back is what I use.
After I did that they understood by pushing them back that is where I wanted them instead of pecking at feet.
In doing so they also learned I wanted them to get back when I opened the run door.

If you pick them up the ones who like top be picked up will figure out all they have to do is peck at you to get picked up even if you are taking them to the coop or some where else the idea they get picked up is good enough for them to think next time you'll sit with them when that wasn't your intentions on that trip into the run.

Picking them up reminds of this story I think I posted it a while back.................

The couple's young daughter had adopted a stray cat. To her mother's distress, the cat began to use the back of their new sofa as a scratching post.

"Don't worry," her husband reassured her. "I'll have him trained in no time."

They watched for several days as he patiently "trained" their new pet.
Whenever the cat scratched, he deposited the cat outdoors to teach him a lesson.

The cat learned quickly. For the next 16 years, whenever he wanted to go outside, he scratched the back of the sofa.

Funny story! Totally true too. Isn't it interesting how people think animals are so different? I'm not claiming to be an expert on animals, but when I need help I seek help! Makes total sense looking at it how that would train the cat though! eesh. I will try lifting them away with my foot and saying back. Wonder how long it'll take? Only time will tell! I plan to spend a bunch of time going out there doing this though :)

Quote: When I first bought this house. There was a gray football shaped & sized one in the cherry trees. The winter rains destroyed it.
I'm very curious about the one in the shed. It looks so white. I'm taking a few days off work next week, so maybe I'll get around to seeing if I can get to it.
Keep in mind it could still contain live brood which could hatch. I would suggest put it in a plastic bag and freeze it for a couple days.

Quote: Save only one or two geraniums and start cuttings from them in the spring.
I have tried to get cuttings to start without much success. I will try again this year with one or two plants. It could be because I have always tried to getting cuttings to start in the house. So maybe geranium starts need cooler temperatures to develop roots ?

WOW the old crodgedy finally woke up and joined us today!!
