Ron's run is pretty darn predator proof. He has like 3 or 4 strands of electric wire around his enclosure, starting at the bottom and going all the way to the top. I think they will be fine. If he can get them into the dog house, that might be warmer for them when it gets really cold.

Nooooooooooooo.

I need to get them out of my garage yeah. I keep meaning to take measurements of the pallets I have left and always forget so I can adjust my plans. I'm going to set a reminder on my phone to measure them tonight.

Mealworms.. hmm. I wonder how much they are online. I bought like 25 crickets for my chickens at petsmart once. Talk about a wrestling match. The poor things didnt have a chance!

ETA: Lol! The name of this site amuses me to no end. BugOrder

Kims right, I think my run is pretty safe. Can't remember if we had straw or shavings in the dog house. we took it out a month ago. we have both! is one better than the other?

Kim
If you find a good deal online for 2 or 3 thousand worms, I'll split them with ya . But you have to count them out.

Petco has 500 for $6.49

Bugorder has them 500 for $6, or 1000 for $10. I'm not sure what shipping looks like. I was toying with the idea of buying some crickets, they're a good deal more though, but still only $25 for 1000.

They stink so bad though.

It looks like the February shin dig will have a lot more people than first anticipated. After speaking with Kim earlier I started looking into other venues. What about a vacation rental on the beach for an evening? This seems much cheaper than the other venues I looked into. What do you all think?

I read somewhere that if they are the super mealworms, the beatles will be sterile and will not produce worms. So you have to be careful to get breeder mealworms.

I have been toying with the idea of trying to raise some. It sounds like it should be fairly easy, and cheaper. But I think I will try them for the chooks first.

Today went really well. Moody was a great chicken herder. Yeah!

I am planning to come to the party as well. I think we should try to find someplace that is overly big. I have a feeling this could really get big. I definately think it is wise to plan to have a ticket price to help with costs. Then you would get a truer idea of how many will actually make to the event. Some towns have community halls. If not Elks, Eagles, Moose....etc. And you might try a grange hall. Among all of these chicken people, there must be someone who belongs to a grange. We have a large log pavilion down here, but I don't see most of you wanting to head this far out of the way for a nights entertainment. Maybe I am wrong. But the summer would be a better time for here, I think.
