Thanks for the welcome, but the pets are planning my next trip already. They like me being out-of-town. The guy who feeds my animals does a great job, but went through about a months supply of catfood in a week and the chickens have been on an only scratch diet.
Course that might explain that before I unpacked I had to clean up about 72 piles of catpuke.

Scrape/Sweep/Mop/Vacuum/Scrub/Repeat.

Russ- at least now the house smells like pine-sol.

I sprinkle a liberal layer in the duck house when I clean it (once or twice a week depending on weather)

Haven't tried without it.. so I can't say for sure how well it works on smell. And boy do the ducks and turkeys smell. I know it's the moisture, but

I mixed some in with my chicken coop bedding and there's no poo-ey odor in there, I'm not sure how to describe the smell, not musty, more like dusty? I think I used too much.

Kim gave me some, and I mixed it with sand and dirt for a dust bath inside the coop. I was wondering if it did any good for paracites I might try mixing some in their nest box. just a little Right ??
I read one guy mixes a coffee can full in a 50# bag of feed. For worms??? Kim gives hers shots ( I think) for worms

Organic gardners and farmers use it for so many things. Unlike the shots, it is safe for use if raising organic crops and meat. I guess eggs too, but don't know the specifics.

There is some risk for those people who have asthma and other respiritory problems, so be careful with it. And personally, I don't want it to be too dusty since chickens are also prone to respiritory illnesses. So I use it sparingly. I use more of the stall dray because it seems less dusty to me.... Or did mine get damp in storage.

One little green egg layer is the holdout. So everyone is for sure laying as of today.. (unless somebody laid 2 - And I am just not ready to go there yet)

You guys have been very busy! My computer wasn't working yesterday so I couldn't get on BYC.

Ron, I don't actually give them shots, I just use the syringe with a needle as a dropper for the propper dosage. I don't know if I would be able to actually give them an injection.

You guys really make me laugh, especially when I have to catch up on posts. It's like following a very random conversation. My husband always looks at me funny because I am laughing at my computer. Oh well, He knew I was weird to begin with.

Hope you all had a great week end.

And yes my Seachickens layed a great big fat egg! I am kind of disgusted. But we had a great X-mas party to go to afterwards. We left the game early.

Hi Ron

The two that I lost were from coyotes. I also lost a cat to a bobcat.

My fencing solution is pretty simple: just a 4 ft. high welded wire 2x4 in fence on T-posts with a single electric wire at the top. I ran the ground to the welded wire fence itself so that if a critter climbs up and touches the electric wire, he will get zapped if he's touching the ground wire. No problems yet.

My Aussie shepherd caught a 'coon about a week ago, and also tustled with a bobcat last week. It's pretty wild here! We're just up the hill from Hollywood Hill elem. All this happened during the cold snap, so I think when the wild fauna go to ground the predators start looking for easier targets.

I started a seperate topic for people to post their actual recipes and talk about the recipe book, and other things if necessary. Here is the link: https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?pid=3346453#p3346453 Recipes can also be emailed and PM'd to me. This may keep my Message box from getting full at times.

Please still go to the PotLuck sign up sheet here: https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=277133 So that people can keep track of what will be there, and can then decide where there may be gaps in the menu to fill.
