DH and I got to meet RonB today. We had a very pleasant conversation, and a lovely visit. We really enjoyed the afternoon. Ron has a great set-up for his birds. I am always jealous of the older barns. Ron has a really great one. Someday I am really going to need a barn like Ron’s or Rob’s DH said he is trying to figure out how to build me a 80 to 100 year old Barn.

Chicken people are the greatest. I haven't met anyone here on the forum that I haven't really liked.

I think I am headed for bed earlier tonight. Thank again Ron for the bread, rolls, and of course the barrel. We really appreciate it. Christina

Where are you fellow Washingtonians finding DE (in large enough bags to sprinkle around)? All I can find is the stuff that isn't food grade. Next time I'm on the other side (East side) of the state I want to pick some up, but no idea where to go. Anyone have a feed store that carries kelp meal too?

Thanks!

I had to read this several times before I figured out that Justbugged DH said ..... It kept registering in my little pea brain that "Rob's DH said...."

I have DW not DH!!

Amazing how the placement of punctuation changes things. Not that I always get it right cause I am terrible at it.

I have been thinking about ordering it from Azure Standard, and online store that delivers all over Washington as well as almost half the USA, now. I get a lot of Organic Food from them. You have to order $550 to have it delivered to your home, but can have it sent to another local buyer with their permission. I just called and they gave me a name and number. Found one within 1 block of my house. It is called a drop point. Mine charges me 5% of the cost of my order. Not too bad I guess.

Here is the link. http://www.azurestandard.com/product.php?id=GP002 You will need to create an account to find out the price on other items, but I can tell you the kelp is $53.90 for the 50 lb bag. They have the DE here : http://www.azurestandard.com/product.php?id=GP010 for $17.05 for 50 lbs

I got an email from Rob (Nifty) telling me. I am so happy!!!!

Henry is an Ancona Roo that I raised in my first batch of chickens in the summer. My friend Paul came and took pictures for the contest I ran. And this one was so good, that I had to share it. Wish it had been early enough to make the calendar. But maybe next year.

Yippee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks Russ...

You noticed before I posted.

The funny thing is that to get the shot, I had to hold him upside down because he just wouldn't sit still. He was the runt of the group, and had a great Rooster attitude. Not afraid of anything.

I get 50lb bags from Cenex.

Somebody posted several months ago that the Sumner Animal Club had DE. I don't know any details, never been there, but kept it in the back of my head in case I ever needed.

Russ

if you guys were ever in dire need for some DE i could get some and break it into smaller portions to sell. i live on an orchard on the eastside of the mountains.... so i would think i would have the best odds for access to the stuff.
