Weaveagarden, mine are doing the same thing. They totally yell at me everytime I go out there. I gave them some scratch to shut them up until it is time to let them out. I hope it stops raining around that time.

Oh, you duck mommas

I just went out and decided to let them out to see what they would think of it. All but one went about 2 feet out and then turned around and raced back in. My RIR stayed out there and scratched in the mud and pecked at a few bites of wet goodies and then decided that she was lonely and sauntered back into the coop. She is a true Northwestern hen. Either that or it is what you get when you cross that duck with a chicken ducky mommas

I remember the first time my little ducks had a taste of the rain. They got all scrunched up facing towards the house peeping for me to bring them back inside. They looked so pathetic. It is the only time they have been so easy to round up, pick up, and tote them around.

My ducks ran outside.. "RAIN!!!!!!!!!!"

My (big) chickens ran outside "RAIN!!!!!!!!!!!" OR maybe it was "SCRATCH!!!!!!!"

My little chickens still haven't figured out how to use the pop door.. They're either not too bright, or smart enough to stay inside.

The turkeys and roosters stayed in the shed. They're not stupid.

Nope that's not weaveagarden's job. It's mine. And I am just not apparently in the mood for sunshine. If the sun shines too much, then all of the tourist will be able to see Mt. Rainier all the time. If that would happen the PacNW would be overrun with tourists. That is just not going to happen on my watch. So no matter what the chickens are complaining about, I am tough enough to take it, because I am a really very mean and strict Washington native chicken mama. So the next time Mt. Rainier is out on a nice sunny day you all can thank me.

Besides I know the rain is good for us. It keeps the webs between our toes from cracking.

It does seem to be a good day to have puppies though. So far Ms Gabby has had 4 of them. I know so far that there is a girl, and 3 boys so far.

Maybe some one can help explain something that I have never been able to figure out. When it is fishing season we are allowed to catch fish. When it is hunting season we are allowed to shoot deer, elk, bear during that season.
So why when it is tourist season are we not allowed to shoot tourists ?

You would think so, but tourists have a lot of disposable cash with them, so if we shoot them they become rarer, and then endangered species. (Think spotted owls) Then we don't get their money, we lose jobs and other negative things begin to happen. So during tourist season we just have to tolerate them, and pray that they go home after leaving us all their lovely money. That's why we can't make them overly comfortable. (ei a lot of rain, and the myth that it always rains in Seattle)

I am going to take a nap then let.my flock out at 3:00pm

We have a Female squirrel that has been coming around for three years. we can tell its her cause she has a piece of her ear missing.. she has been PG the last two summers. We put a bowel of food out for her almost every day. A few minutes a go I just got her to run up the OUT SIDE of my pant leg to take a peanut out of my hand.

Ron, you know if you do get more roo's, your going to be in soooo much trouble! I don't think I am going to add chickens, I am thinking a pair or trio of bantam ducks. But I'm still just thinking about it. We'll see. I am going to have to call Donna and pick her brain on how she takes care of hers and how much work they really are.

Boy, Ronnie Roo is really feeling his oatmeal with yogurt this AM.

I want some miniature geese this next year. I wonder if I can teach them to cluck? Maybe nobody will notice that Pinky has taken some mighty funny looking hens into his harem?
