I would think about looking around the Spokane area for shows that maybe closer to you. But you are now invited to the Potluck that we are having in the Kirkland area on the 28th of February. Just PM any of us and we can fill you in on the details. We would love for you to came and meet us.
On that born and raised in Washington thing; me too. I just can't seem to get out of King County though.

How old are they now Brennant? Seems like just yesterday you were just starting. But I wasn't much ahead of you and mine are all laying now. So I have a feeling it is days away, maybe hours!

I was born and raised in Wa too. But most of mine was in Eastern Wa until junior high school. So chances are I lived within 50 miles of someplace somebody else lived or lives at some point in time. But it is fun to connect those dots. You never know when you might reacquaint yourself with an old friend, classmate or neighbor.

An example of how small the world is: A friend who worked with my mom at the hospital in Aberdeen moved to Spokane. She started dating a guy who used to be our neighbor in just up the hill near Lamona Wa. I am not sure how they figured out the connection. But it is kind of cool to know that they did.

They are almost 5 mos old now I think. I think I might have a little more time. Was just surprised to see her squat like that today.

Thank you all for welcoming me on here!

And thank you for your ideas, advice & encouragement in regards to my chicken situation. I updated my other thread of what is going on now in our backyard. Went to 3 feed stores yesterday & bought everything we could think of to (hopefully) remedy this mess. I have been hanging out with my chickens today & they are all talkative & want to follow me everywhere.

We are really hoping to order more chicks in February & we usually have them live in the house for 2 months before they get switched to an enclosed, heated coop outside... therefore I am HOPING we get everything figured out by then (IF not sooner!)

It's also nice to find "chicken people"... so many of my friends & family think I am crazy lovin' chickens like I do.

I don't think you have much more time, necessarily. Mine started at 21 weeks..... My mom's at 20. So, be prepared, and start looking around at other places besides the nests, including outside under bushes. If you have a golf ball, plastic easter egg you can fill with dirt, or even an actual egg that you can leave in the nest, it might give them the idea to lay there.

The nest box has a golf ball in it right now... my wife thinks I am nuts when I told her why I had that in there...

I understand completely... course, when you say you're visiting a "chicken website," they think you're even more crazy
