Eagle 2026, Wow, that would be so nice to have! Our stores carry some common ones, but nowhere near that amount!

T Hi, I only want 2 maybe 3 drakes of my 10 babies coming, but I can't sex them, so must wait till I know which are which. I won't have baby ducklings, I'd have young adult ducklings to find homes for.

Rory, is the one who is in charge of the chick dept. and he just had a son so he is on maternity leave with his wife for a week or two so no help on the site thing.
I did post there # and the book that is posted shows what kind and when and how many theey are getting.
There operation is very good!!!! To say the least.

That # agian is for availability,

Anyone into breeding rare duck breeds in Western Washington? Our two Chocolate Ancona ducks have turned out to be a duck and a drake. We're not set up to breed here, especially with a mixed flock and no incubator. They are absolutely lovely, big healthy birds and I'd love to rehome them somewhere they can work on re-establishing the breed from it's "critical" status.

I've got the pair up on Craigslist, but was hoping someone had a particular interest in these two that wouldn't involve dinner!

Picked up the three chickens on Sunday, and had 6 eggs over the last three days... until today - FIRST PERFECT DAY... 3/3! I know it is easier to get a perfect day when you only have three... but it just feels good! Not to mention, I think I broke one of the hens from laying all over the place. She layed on the poop board, on the floor, and I caught her making another nest on the floor this morning and picked her up and placed her inside the nest and calmly told here, 'In here, silly girl'... sure enough, she stayed and layed!

She took her sweet time, though, cause the other two started squawking for her to hurry up! They were YELLING! Wow!

DW has finally come around and is enjoying the girls - and gave them names: Henrietta, Daisy, and Clementine... Clem is the slow nester!

Four days into BYC-ing and I'm hooked!

Now I just need some ideas on longer term feeders and waterers!

Eagle: That store is creepy. There are so many brooders there, some with breeds I know people won't pick. . . What do they do when there are extras that get too old?

I mean, I'd go crazy for those Crevecoeurs and be the only one to buy them if they weren't crummy ol' hatchery quality birds.

Anyway, I have exciting news. . . I just received 30 true Araucana chicks!!

( the rumpless, tufted kind ) And there are quite a few colors here. . . All I'm missing is Lavender. Otherwise, I even have two that look like Blue Cuckoo or something, and several Splashes that don't necessarily look like "splash" chickens.

Here's a sample of the various colors:

:thOk just got home and have 10 chicks running around in the incubator so want to reach in and take them out. But I wont have 33 eggs total hatching and as it looks right now most might hatch.. I wont say it louder than that...
I'll get pictures of them and the goat kids in the next day or so.. I guess I live on a farm LOL (from the once city girl)
Want the rain to stop...

Yeah... Pretty much just living IN Enumclaw counts as farm living

Grew up there, couldn't wait to get out... now that I have a family, can't seem to find a place quite as nice... funny how that works!

A little rain now is nice... so long as it passes by the time Friday rolls on in!

Cheers from Silverdale, WA (by way of Enumclaw, Seattle, California, and Colorado)...

Out of curiosity, has anyone noticed if their white colored birds are more vulnerable to predation/attack? We are wondering because everytime we have white chickens (or chicks that will grow up to be white) they are the ones who seem to get attacked first, while the darker colored ones seems more likely to escape.

Odette,
I have heard the same thing, but it has not been proven true for me. I have 1 white chicken, and it has lasted as long as the rest. But I also have been extremely fortunate. I haven't had a predator in about 6 years.
