Hey everyone. I'm Nick from Arlington Wa, and I'm new to chickens. We just got these 3 Cochins and they are great. We got them sort of as pets, but mostly egg layers. We don't know much about chickens so we will be posting questions as we go. Hope to be able to meet some of you some day.

You see my wonderful husband built me a cabinet incubator 21 days ago it was done. Oh my gosh its the only way to go I tell you just put the eggs in plug in the turner and check water every day thats it.. Now Im going to have him build me a hatcher so I dont have to use the LG any more for hatching. Oh and I did the egg carton thing with the eggs so they dont roll all over the place thats a good way..
Im going to get pictues of the chicks and the goats and the incubator to show you, will do it tonight or tomorrow.. I promise..

Congrats on the new babies!

I'm so Jealous! My hubby has no interest in chickens there for no wanting to help me build anything! I really want to see pics of those baby goats, I might want to take one home!

So much fun to hear about all of the new chicks! Those Aracanas make me so jealous. My neighbor has one that lays the most beautiful blue eggs. We have our Cochin/Barred mix sitting on 15 eggs at the moment. We should be having chicks in 2 weeks if our rooster isn't a dud. This will be his first test

Exciting!

Alls you can do is hope for the best.
You should be able to tell if you can candle a couple, three of them on day 12.
GOOD LUCK, but I don't think you need it,
Mike

We are definitely hoping for the best. We go out and check on her several times a day, but she is always just sitting there with a look that says, "...what!?". I would like to candle, but I think we will just wait this time. She looks so happy

If the eggs don't work out I think we will just shove some chicks under her to give her the satisfaction of a job well done.
