Hi, no I have the big girls and no what is the goat spot? Are you going to the Fair in Enumclaw next weekend? I'll be there selling my goat milk soap, and maybe have a few chicks not sure I really want to do it but friends are talking me into it.

If you get the green book it will tell you what you need to do. I do know that if you sell it out of the garden with out washing you dont need a commerical kitchen lic. If I have some time tonight or in the morning I'll look and see what it says. I have a friend who has a Fruit and Veg stand and they grow stuff there and found out that they can pick and sell its ok but you wash it off you need a CK. I be that is why a lot of people have the you pick place's.

I want to know too, I was really planning on having a big garden this year and selling and donating the extras! I am now getting at least 6 eggs a day so I started making a sign to put in my driveway to sell them! I am so eggcited LOL.

Thanks Ron! I was wondering if you had decided to just keep them, I hadn't heard about them on here from you for a while. As you can see on my sig. we added some other ducks so they will have friends if they come to live with me.

Unwashed fine, washed needing regulations. . . Wow that is silly. I do know that there was something about U-Pick farms needing liability papers and all, with the fact that people can do anything. . .

I'd love more answers on that, especially about the friend who sells their produce.

i know that us farmers on the east side of the cascades shudder at the people who ask for "u-pick"

there are many reasons for it.

mainly its the insurance liability. we would have to train you. and we would still be at fault if you fell off a ladder or had fruit fall on your head or if the picking bag hurts your back.

next people damage the fruit of this year and next years fruit.
people are rough and bruise, puncture and will break stems.

so for our family fruitstand to insure quality products we pick things ourselves for others to enjoy.
i know the law on selling eggs is if you sell directly from the property you do not need a permit. but you would need one if you sold over 1,000 eggs a year.
to sell to the farmers market, csa, or to restaurants you need the egg handlers permit.

see i am wondering if anyone has gotten the permit and what is it the inspector looks for. i use an egg washing machine i got from eggcartons.com. its a 5gal bucket that hooks up to the air compressor and you use a wash powder and the eggs are bubbled clean. the bloom sometimes rubs off in odd patterns so i scrub it all off on those ones...

I thought it was 1,00 birds, not eggs. . .

1,000 eggs wouldn't be too hard for us at all next year.

Illia,
Can't answer your question.
I think I promised you a pix of the peach tree in bloom. I read that you got one also. very nice. The peach is not showy (it's the pink tree, the white tree behind is a plum), but I'll add a pix of the cherry in the backyard, It is pretty showy. It's so big I couldn't get a good pix of the entire tree. And an apple just for fun.

Imp- and hi to all the new people, nice to see you all here & coming back.

Well hello back to all of you! Yes, the tulips are pretty, but this time of year you have to drive 50 miles out of your way to get anywhere just to avoid the tulip traffic.

Oh well, can't complain much--we've got such a bounty here in this valley that it doesn't hurt to share. What we don't already have (fish, shellfish, berries, & various fruits & veggies) we can always trade for with our neighbors east of the mountains!
