Thanks! I feel the same way, there is no excuse for no communication, even now she will not PM or answer, to h**l with it, we all have to not hate and we all need to move on~

It was T-Hi that had the ducklings lost, somewhere between the hatchery and her feed store. I had hatching eggs as well. They did not show today, so I am hopeful it will be tomorrow!

I don't know what to tell you about your Lakenvelder/cuckoo maran confusion! I guess if she doesn't respond, there's not much you CAN do! Ugh.

She may not be a bad person, and acting out and ruining her business/life may be the most horrible thing to do in the world.
I already have a bad temper and big enough cahones that I will open my big mouth a cuss you worse than any sailor, even though I am educated, and diplomatic.
The thing that makes me most mad is how these incidents of no communication creat such a tornado of BS that doubles and triples in size...and my family/friends telling me that her site is probably fraud and that I am so stupid to repeatedly make this mistake of handing over my money for something and get ripped off, like I am niave to a fault, just say stooooooooooooooopid...so opening the big cavernous mouth can ruin her life, and make me look stooooooooooooooopider...when maybe she is having a hard time, maybe her phone has been turned off, maybe she had a car accident, maybe her BF hurt her, or maybe her Mama is sick...hell, she is in Kansas...maybe a tornado sucked her whole chicken farm up !

Communication would be nice, but some people do not think...(until maybe they have this happen to them)
In the mean time, we all need to give the other the benefit of the doubt and trust even if the entire world is sitting next to you saying stoooooooopid!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So I am stooooooooooopid, and maybe I got Lakenvelders.
I only know we need to forget it, keep trusting as Greg said, and move on through life.
Now, where is the baby ducks ?????

Have you called the hatchery ?
What feed store ?

well i stopped at the feed store and my chicks didn't arrive either. for 2 months i was told yesterday or today... now the hatchery tells the store tomorrow morning....-sigh- wont be able to pick them up till the afternoon.... hopefully one of my chicks will be lakenvelders....

hope you get them all healthy.
I am still puzzled over these tan (almost a yellowy tan) freckled eggs...but at least I got eggs, so I will be happy...hope everyone gets their eggs, it seems everyone is behind schedule...but instead of saying so they take your order and then you waite...and Greg, we are building our house this summer, and I want you to then bid our sheetrock, on a barn house...(not open ceiling) and will be small...24 X 30 and have a staircase...so won't be too difficult, I am just too old to hang rock, did it last year at our other house, and never more.
Thanks, and talk to you in a few days guys~

Hello and welcome! I've only been here about a week myself. I live near Yakima, Wa. I have 15 chickens too and three kids (humans that is). I have been driving my hubby CRAZY talking about chickens so I'm very glad to have found this web site. These are my first chickens too. I have 1 silkie, 4 golden sex link, 3 easter eggers, 4 golden whandottes, and 3 bantie chickens that I really don't know what they are other than two are roos and will soon be dinner!! Glad to know you, Melissa

I would love to know....my oldest chicks are just about 6 and 8 weeks. I want to kick them out to the coop now that it's done enough to be inhabited. My younger gals are almost ready to move into the mini coop/brooder that they are occupying. The temp is consistantly 65+ now but that wind is crazy! Yesterday it was 30mph with gusts of 50 and today we only lost 5mph off of that. So --- this whole "no drafts" thing is making it difficult.

BUT we got the coop built this weekend and the run wired last night!!! Woohoo! Now it's finishing touches....pop doors and roosts, some paint. I can't wait to have it completely done and stick those chickens in it! They're starting to get crowded and give me the evil eye

I know what you mean about the hubs being tired of listening about the chickens! Fortunately I have a very good friend that loves them too, we have been on this venture together and our husbands say we chicken enable eachother! I started out with 13 chicks and I gave her 5 of them, now for whatever reason I have 15 and she has 12!! I don't how that happened??

I am truly addicted to having chickens, what great fun they are and the kids love them too! I am very glad to meet you too Melissa!

You will have them soon you just wait and see.

If you don't get the runners through the feedstore, that means you can get better quality from Holderreads, or I can bring some of mine next time I'm over that way (my brother just moved to Seattle, and there is the fall show in Stevenson). I have two coloreds in growout, but most are white. My pair of runners is a drake from Golden Egg and a hen from Holderread. They are 3.5 years old and still laying, 100% fertility thus far- no bummers, no quitters, but I did have one die after hatching.

I have four eggs on lockdown now, all four pipped. I have two that hatched over the weekend while I was at the show in Stevenson. I might enter my adults in the show in Montana on May 1.
