I wear my only and rather very expensive pair of shoes into the run. I have a boot brush and a garden hose that I use to clean them off when I am done. I haven't tracked anything too disgusting as far as I can tell. But then with 7 dogs and a few cats, the floor in my house is often shall we say really dirty. I use a bleach solution when I mop. I also don't have any carpet in the house. We have laminate flooring through out the house. Next time we do the floors I am really thinking hard about concrete floors.

I wish I could help with the hen troubles, but I have not run into that problem. I would not accept any more birds from where you got them. I would cut my losses this time, and warn others about the troubles you had with the persons flock.

Rubber boots/rain boots. Then they come off at the back door (usually)

I have been known to wear my heels out there when I come home after work and have to cuddle a chicken RIGHT NOW

ETA: Anyone know of a place in the Snohomish/Everett area with a reasonable price for a yard or 2 of sand (delivered) I'm still researching, but I've never bought sand in yards before, so I'm not sure where to start..

Are you putting it in your coop? I plan on putting it on the floor of my coop and in my run! It has gotten so muddy with all of the rain! Quite annoying for my girls!

I don't know if my truck could hold a yard of sand.. but I could see!

Yes, it's for the run, it's one giant mud and poop hole right now.

I'm so sick of the flies that I want to barf. I'm too cheap to cover it though, and I'm tired of having to clean the coop like every other day because they're tracking mud in. Good idea.. I might use it in the coop as well. Be less ucky.

It would help if the big coop wasn't so overcrowded, unfortunately I had to stick my two turkeys in there because she wanders too much, once we can get the big(ger) coop built out back, it won't be such an issue. Right now though.. and I repeat

ETA: When I say cheap, I mean broke

I have my two turkeys in my large coop right now! lol! Oh and what size truck do you have? ours is only a dodge ram 1500 and it fits a yard in the bed, just lay plastic down first or you'll have a hard time getting all of it out.....

drunkdog,

Clogs & sandals by the back door. Never worn in the house. The cats do that for me. Learn to love the poo.

Nyrial,

I get stuff like that from the nursery I frequent. The owner knows me by now. It's cheap but there is a $60 deliver charge. The last time I bought 12 yards of driveway gravel, I talked him into dropping the delivery charge. For smaller quantities I do the bags at ACE. Costs $, but they let me drive up to the bags and help me load.

NWchick & Michelle,

Sorry about your sick chickens. Hope all get better. I'll post a few links that might help.
