Just be patient

I looked at mine again last night and 4 of them have movement now, they are just really hard to see through because of their coloring. The bigger they get the easier it is and the room had to be PITCH black too. Don't worry Jess, if ours don't turn out we will just get more and do this all again!! This has all been a great learning experience, and now we will both really know what to do for the next time!!

hey y'all! just wanted to say --hope everyone had a great weekend--
smile.png
looks like everyone has been busy! Cheryl, hope your 'headache' is going away! I am always terrified I am going to do something like that to myself--drop that thing on my foot or something.. half the time I am out fencing in flip flops--duh!

My little lucky duck is doing really well (the one I had to help hatch out..) She loves her new friend! thanks cindy! they are really cute together now. Lucky realizes she is a duck now, and is no longer terrified of the strange creature in the brooder with her.

I have two eggs left from the 24 I got shipped--they seem to be growing--but one definitely has a damaged air cell, is the chick going to be ok??
fl.gif

My other call duck hen went broody, so there she sits on either 6 or 7 eggs... so--between the two girls there will be about 13 or 14 quacklets here shortly, if they hatch those babies out! Anyone gonna be interested in beautiful butterscotch call ducks??

heehee!

I also JUST read that article in BYP about the Marans--those are some beautiful chickens! wow!

Ok--off to catch up in the yard and garden from a weekend off

lol Thats pretty much my plan with my husband. Wait and see how long it takes for him to notice. hehehe

So I think Ive figured out the right combination for Coyote deterent. lol My coop is out in the horse pasture, right next to my house. We have it wrapped with hotwire, at 6" and then again at 18", at night the horses are also turned out in the field that the coop is in. Our paint mare is not a fan of dogs that she doesnt know, and she HATES coyotes, so her and the pony do quite a nice job of running the coyotes off. When my head isnt swimming from the hit I took, then I will be burrying the fencing also. The run is alreay covered in deer netting to keep the crows, and owls out. Last night was the real test... We were surounded by coyotes on all sides last night, at about 12AM. We moved the horses in next to the coop, and those dang coyotes ran the edge of the field with 4 adults and two horses standing out in it. I'm hopeing that all this is enough deterent for them, cause I would rather not have to discharge any firearms here. I have neighbors that are too close to legally shoot anything thats bigger than a pellet gun.

I was using a 10# sledge to pound in big stakes to hold up the fruit trees...and wacking away when the post split and the sledge swung over and smacked me right in the left shinbone************** stars! Cusswords not even invented yet!!!!***********and DH was gone, and I was sure I had broken the bone, so crawled inside and iced, and days later still have a bone bruise and 3 weeks later it is still black, turning yellow, and my BP was 127/70 way too high for me !
But as we have seen a million times in surgery, pain makes the BP skyrocket, even simple stress like going in for a physical exam can raise the BP alot !
Hope you are OK !
I will remember that next time I pick up my post driver ! Rest, and be careful !

Oh goodness!!! That made me cringe, just like trying to remember myself getting hit...I know that had to hurt!

Hey everyone...I just wanted to check & see if anyone would be interested in (standard) Crevecoeur or bantam Blue Laced Red Wyandotte chicks?? The Creves will be ready in a month or so, the BLRW's probably not until late summer or fall...PM me if you're interested in either.

Hello all! I have two pretty ladies who I'd like to find new homes for. I've moved my little pullets into the coop and want to give them a little more room. The hens for sale are one Crele Penedesenca and one Barnevelder, both 1.5 years old. They are both laying between 5-6 eggs a week and are quiet, mellow girls. Neither lay a super dark egg, but are pretty and healthy chickens.

I'm asking $20 each. Here are some recent pics. I'm in the Northgate-Haller Lake area and am available in the evenings after 7 and most week days. Thanks!

I've heard that donkeys are really good to keep out coyotes also
