So I am going to go out and find a bigger cooler. Another question that I have though is about temperature. I have read that it needs to be exactly 99.5. F. Is that correct or can there be some variance in the temp? If so by how much?

Uh, go way bigger than you'll think you need.

We're going to have to add a second/third here shortly.

my thermometer doesn't have the decimal place, it just sort of hangs out at 99 or so, and I've had very successful hatches.

Depends on the type of bird maybe?

I'm still here!,I'm still here! I just am trying to spend less time on the computer and more time with the fam right now. I spend some time on Facebook because I can keep up with my other friends and a lot of the ones from here at the same time. I get on here once in awhile and read a little but don't post. Sorry about that.

I will try to spend a little more time here too. It's just been so crazy at my house lately. On another note, my BO has stopped laying for some reason, and my Ameraucana is in her 3rd week of broodiness. Drama! I just wish it would stop raining so I could go out and enjoy them a little more often. I will try to catch up on here as much as possible, but you guys are too busy for me to read everything I have missed. TTYS!

I have two bators, one to incubate, has a turner, 2 thermometers and digital hygrometer...and then I have a big wood box with a brooder element in the top that is perfect for hatching or brooding, and out side we have a bigger box, about 4x3 feet and 3 feet tall with heat lamp for bigger babies.
It is a freakin' hatching factory !!

Our entire area over here (Okanogan County, Spokane area, Idaho border) are having flood warnings for rivers and streams and mud slide warnings from all the rain. They it is hitting Oregon and then curving up and hitting us hard.

Rare Farm: Becareful of mud slides in those areas of the burn last year. Be safe. I bet the water flowing down hiway 20 right now is crazy in that canyon.

Poor Oregon, they are getting hit broadside worse than us !
I think even their ducks are drowning.

Ok guys I need some help. My little mystery chick started wheazing last night. I put her and the other two in a recycle box / brooder with food and water, they are all fully feathered so I do not have a lamp on them... I'm a bit concerned, and am not sure what all I should be doing for her. My sister and I thought for sure last night that I would wake up to a dead baby, but she held on and is still with me. She acts like she has something stuck in her throat, but sounds like she may have fluid in her lungs... She wasnt eating or drinking, so Ive been going out and feeding her mush from an eye dropper, along with water. Ive been doing this about every 2 hours or so.

My sister sudgested that I put her in the big brooder with the younger chicks, but I dont think that is a very good or safe idea. Its all about the what if's... And dont want to risk the chance that she might infect my 6 little ones. The two chicks that I have in with her both seem just fine, active, normal breathing, they eat and drink on their own. Its just this one little chick. "I didnt seperate them because they all came together, and have been together."

Anyone have any sudgestions for me? Or should I just keep doing what I'm doing and hope for the best?
