I went to college and received an education, too, but that doesn't stop me from having chickens. Don't tar all college graduates with the same brush.

Okay my heart went splat. Your little turkey looks like it is really enjoying being out it's egg. I almost wanted to sing happy birthday to it.

see if this works:
Go to the top of the page and click 'uploads'
Then click 'browse'
then find a file in the drop down menu and 'open' the file so you can see all the pics in the file,
then click on the pic you want to upload.../hit open/then submit,
and when it is loaded it will pop up on your uploads page...then copy the IMAGE text under the picture...and carry it and paste it on the message page, you can then write any words under it, or go back and copy/paste any more pics.
Try it...when you write the message you will not see your picture, just the image text...OK practice !
If I can do it, anyone can do it !!!

Where did I do that? I made a bet about THIS person!
The author doesn't have chickens.
The author instead of educating themselves did the exact opposite.
What I am saying is MANY go to college THINKING they got an education and I bet this one did also.
By reading the article one can tell they had other things on their mind when they were at college.
There are many that go to college and use the time wisely.
Unfortunately the majority walk out of their thinking they know what life is about.
Most of them couldn't hit water if they fell out of a boat.
That evidence is every where around us. Just read your paper. It's all there.

I am going to try this one more time...have tried 3 X and the keep loosing connections and getting kicked off the internet..
Anyway, went to Chehalis yesterday, went to the YARDBIRDS store where there is a Farmer's AG market !
There was an old man there who raises and was selling a big giant box of RR banty chicks that were $3 each and some parent fowl, these birds were so gorgeous mahogany red/brown and so glossy they appeared to be wet/frizzled/with oil....
Big eyes, docile and he say they lay a surprisingly medium sized egg !
He will not be there next weekend as it is the 4th but will be the weekend after that.
I should have taken a picture.
Lots of chickens, one roo was white and had lacing color...was about as tall as my hip...huge !
There was also a woman selling alot of ducklings, assorted colors, looked like runners.
People there said somedays there is 50 people selling/trading birds and some weekends there is only a few...$10 to set up a spot to sell there, nursery stock, any farm stuff, eggs, feed, birds, piglets, etc.
Just down the one way road from there is the fairgrounds, and a HUGE rat rod and custom car show was on, so we really enjoyed that.
DH wants to build a rat rod.

I have 10-2 1/2 month old PBR pullets and 2 roos that are very tame and healthy to sell, and soon will have more birds to sell as we have too many.
I put the incubator and big brooder away for the rest of the year.
I can fairly say that I am pretty much all hatched out.
**Sigh!!**
Tuesday is Marek's shots day. That is going to be a rough morning.
Now I am off to keep digging my well

This guy wanted his readers to believe that all he could hear was the song birds singing, when those awful chickens began making a noise that apparently went on for an extended period time ruining his precious time outdoors. Oh and it was so loud (think Rosanne Barr in labor loud) that he could hear it from blocks away. Yet he can't seem to hear the traffic on Aurora Ave that is by authors own admission only 4 blocks away. (Selective deafness?) I spent a number of years growing up in the neighborhood just to the north of where the author says he lives so I know a little a bit about noises that you can hear in the city. I have never heard my neighbor’s chickens, and he is less than 2 blocks away. (Maybe his coop is better than mine.) Besides some of those song birds are really loud, and I can't seem to get them to shut either.) I think that this author’s hyperbole is a rather fascinating work of self serving fiction. (Oh dear I must have opinion.

) Let’s not tell him that there are goats and rabbits in the city, and they are living not that far from him. He would probably faint if he knew where food really came from. Oh he also thought that you can buy “fresh” organic eggs at the grocery store.
As for the politicians isn't great that they will need to be re-elected to continue having their say in chicken politics.

PS Can I live next to those wonderful neighbors that hush their barking dogs quickly every time the poor little doggy barks. Oh wait that would be me, and I get in trouble for yelling at the dogs to "Shut-up" over and over again. I seem to make more noise than the 6 yappy little dogs and the Komondor.

This person sounds like all the other talking heads that are on TV or newspaper.
They care little about the content, but adore making little puns throughout what essentially is a worthless article of poop, that carries within it absolutely nothing educational whatsoever.
He no doubt has a degree in journalism and has no idea about the world at all, just scrambles for bits of info, and tries to tie it all up in some sort of entertaining and illuminating article that even I grew bored reading, let alone the common non-poultry person.
It reminds me of when they had extra space in the newspaper and had to make up alot of poop to finish filling the page so they could print and sell the newspaper.
After you read the article, what did you learn ??
That weird old women are conducting a chicken keeping movement to piss men off ????
Say what the cluck ???
This is why I do not subscribe to the worthless newspaper any longer.
I barely tolerate the TV news.

I better go to work !

I better go to work ! Chickie you are right!

And so should this public high school educated woman.

I had a lot of fun homeschooling 2 kids all the way to college. I am at times astonished at how poor some people's education really has been. I am also certain that true education comes from learning for all of your life, not just the time spent in a school setting. I also wonder at times, that when I have dumb confirmed for me, that whether or not that the person confirming it to me is one of many people that regularly cheat themselves through the schooling process, by cheating on their school work. I do know that we don't all need to know the exact some things in life, but some basics are not a bad thing.

Like in the article, it is clear that not all people should have pets, let alone chickens. But while I would share my experience with others, I would not belittle their choices in their life. I am very aware that most people do not have or want as many pets as I have, and I know that it is a wise choice on their part. But it works for me and DH, and it's cheaper than kids.

Okay okay I will go do something else for a while, and have deep philosophical thoughts by myself.
