Beats me, but from the Tacoma vet I have gotten that it does exist...ask the vet is my recommendation.
I ordered New Castle, and New Castle La Sota, Mareks, and Fowl Pox.
That is all I am going to mentally deal with at the moment...I am an artist, I cannot balance my own checking acount.
That side of my brain is not developed

So, I am dealing with Marek's tomorrow, and after that we shall see.
My concern is how long apart should I administer these viruse's
so the bird's immunal system "blueprints" the disease.....obviously we should not hit the bird with all thses disease viruses' at once~~~~***************later space fans, where ever you are.***************HEARTS OF SPACE FOREVER !!!!!

I hear you exactly about your homesteadt !! And make your own wine as well I did.
Illia has not contacted me for Ameraucanas either, My best recommendation is the eggs from Zgoatlady that are awesome !!!!!
These babies are so fat and healthy, it is very obvious that her hens are happy and well fed
PM I will send you her PH#.........these are babies..but yes they will be big, healthy and calm, not to mention beautiful.
I honestly think that the Ameraucanas chicks I have are CUTER and more resouceful that the marans chicks

Hi Steven,

Sorry your Buff Orp is not behaving her self! I'm not sure how to break her of her broodiness. I've never had a bird stick with it that hard. Usually we just keep taking their eggs everyday even if they are broody and that has always seemed to break them of it. As far as eating eggs, not sure how to break them of that either, other than trying to get the eggs before her!

But Yeah!!! for shopping for a new girl to join your group! (I do have 3 Easter Eggers I could part with if you want to come all the way out here again!!!!) I would suggest getting another hen that is full size so she won't get pecked on too bad as she works her way into the group. A baby chick will be lonely by itself and the older ladies will peck on it pretty harshly if she is not the same size. When you get a new one, don't forget to isolate it for a month or so to make sure it's not sickly. Then when you introduce it to your girls, I suggest putting her in at night while the birds are roosting and just setting her on the roost. They seem to notice the new one's less if they wake up with them in the morning. Add one during the day and it's big news for the rest of the day and will be a harsher introduction for the new bird.

Good luck!

Well, Pips and Peeps has advised that we do not need Fowl Pox as it is not an issue here, which is fantastic news...It is a bugger to give all these birds a shot, and I have heard fowl pox vaccine is very hard on the birds and can make them sick for quite a while.
The Marek's vaccinating this morning went great, with all birds.
Advice: Have everything ready, a storage bowl with cotton balls all soaked in alcohol, you will use 3 or so per to wet the feathers and sterilize the skin.
Inserting the short needle and gently lift up so the vaccine bubble is under the skin, you will see it.
Have your helper catch the birds and hold them, parting the neck feathers.
It went faster than I thought, and all birds are fine, even the babies...speaking of babies, they have ventured outside and I gave mama a slice of bread, and found her tearing off tiny bits to feed to them, so super cute !!!
She clucks to them and teaches them.

So no Fowl Pox for us.
We have little to zero intention of participating in poultry shows so Pips and Peeps advises that the rest of the vaccines are not necessary....Hopefully she can come on and explain to us all what she advises we do as she goes all over the country showing chickens she needs more vaccines.

beautiful momma and babies. How many babies are there? She will probably never go broody again if she figures out that going broody means she has all these kids to feed and listen to.

No, we're going through Yakima on the way down to drop off my Borzoi.

Otherwise, I'd make you a heck of a deal on three of them!

If you're able to make it down to that area this week or early next week, maybe we can meet up? I really need them gone as I'm picking up another pair (adults) on my way home and as soon as they are out of quarantine I'll need the room!
