Alrighty my chicks are hatching!! A day early too.

So far, one of my Olive Eggers is out. . . It's a solid blue (and I mean SOLID, no white or yellow on it) but it has a tail and a single comb.

Also, one of my "Wheaten Marans" eggs hatched. . . . It's an Olive Egger. More specifically, it's a duckwing, which is a gorgeous color - But it has NO chance of having tufts, because daddy was a cull duckwing that had no tufts. I was really hoping he did not successfully fertilize the Wheaten Marans girls. I'm hoping the rest will be Wheatens.

Now, still awaiting my Ameraucanas to hatch. . .

I can't drink tequila/margaritas anymore either. They make my stomache ache. It's unfortunate because I do like margaritas. I used to be a bartender in a mexican restaurant and so can make a pretty good margarita

They just give me such heartburn any more and they do bother my tummy too. But, I really-really love a good margarita. Getting old really stinks.

If ever we have a BYC - Washington get together, I will have to take a TUMS and have you make me a margarita.

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm that sounds good!
But I too get a tummy ache, and I have found it to be related to the freezies, so I started drinking what is called a "Maggie" which is an unblended margarita...just do ice in a glass tumbler, add tequie, add margarita mix, you can salt the edge first if you want...no more brain freeze or tummy ache.
Maybe works for you ?
I also have a friend who could not do the margarita mix due to the acid, so she makes hers with diet grapefruit soda or squirt...salt first of course///try that.

I didn't ever think you could do this with roosters. I do this (except I use a frame to strech the skin) with goat kid hides.

cardboard and long quilt pins work great for birds

Yes I have viseted the old Seattle Parrot House. I used to sell Cockatiels to them.

They were all about disease control there. It was a cramped but knowledgable place.

Robs party went well. And being the only sobre adult on the property was pretty entertaining too! My sister got the bright idea to take a drunken ride... Amazingly it didn't end in desaster. Both the pony and the paint were pulled out at 11 PM... Poor things. Only person to fall off was my sister, so all was good. We did have one person get tangled up in the hotwire fence... She shorted my box out when she hit the wire. So no "shock" unfortunately.... Now I have to go out and figure out what exactly she did, and how to fix the fence... Thankfully its not raining, but the sun is decieving. Its still really cold out...

So here I sit.

I think in my case it is the acid that bothers me...but the squirt idea sounds good...Mind you I was also trying to not drink them because of calories.

But, with diet squirt....that would be my margarita and less calories....hmmmmm, what time does the liquor store close.

Definitely have to have the salt.

My dog has been dragging his butt on our gravel road (OUCH!!!) sometimes for 10 feet or more (YIKES!!!)

Shasta (at a western family stores I think) makes a diet grapefruit with splenda, not aspartame, so cool !!!!!!!!!

Nice way to do it....sorry....just go for it. Get someone to help, hold his/her head while you work the other end. It can be very smelly too. Be prepared. I have always found it easier with 2 people. But, ya just gotta get in there and do. Have fun.

Be gentle though! If you squeez wrong you can cause a worse impaction... At least thats what my dogs Vet says... He said if you don't squeez high enough on the gland you can actually push some of that nasty stuff farther up inside...
sickbyc.gif
In turn adding a higher chance of infection...
