Chickielady
O my gosh Jack has gotten so BIG!

So I havent gotten any messages but today I did. Im glad. So I got a new puppy she's really 9 months old and so funny. She's a rotti and I just love her, she's great with the other inside animals, not to sure about the chickens and goats yet.
It is so cold here, we have had 9 inch of snow and its still comming down.
Stay warm everyone.

Hi Zgoatlady !!! So nice to hear you !! LOL hope you and yours are staying warm, I wish you could see the fantastic OEs I hatched from eggs from you...12 hatched out of 13 eggs !!! Beautiful !

Thank you for the reminder. I would have forgot...too worried about chickens. We just went in the coop and it is actually pretty warm. I moved the heat lamp a bit closer to them (they still have plenty of room to get out of the way). We also nailed up two suet bars up. I am going to make my own bird block. Feed store was out today.

Let me know your recipe and how it works out with the flock block !
This is a good thing for the birds when they are in lock down situations, boredummmmmm can take over and pecking or stress can go on...but a block of stuff to peck at can be oh so wonderful to the birdies !!!

I was going to use Chickiemama's or Terri's....but DH said he used to make it (like you had said) with 1/2 and 1/2 PB and Lard and mixed in some seed. We may just do that for a quickie block to give them something to chew on. I wrapped my run with clear plastic and it is holding back the wind and really seems to make a difference in temp (well by a few degrees at least). I have battened down the hatches and I am ready to ride out this storm....I think the blizzard may miss us though. They are caling for it further East.

But Rare Feathers said they may have a power outage...and a few said power was flickering over here...geeeze, glad I have a generator, although going out to hook it up is a bummer...still my bator and the chicks will be OK...

Too funny.....I was bundled like that (well almost) during my hour in Wal*mart and, probably, 2 hours in Safeway today. I think all my shopping is done.

We got a few inches I guess here in Seattle. ITs still snowing now at 9:30. Surprised this much and this early for Seattle. The roads are not great and Im surprised that people arent crashing worse than they are. Tailgaiting, passing on the right, pulling out in front of each other lol. I had to go somewehre today and decided to walk.

The water bottles are frozen outside and I keep swapping them out and bringing them inside to thaw. The chicekns got corn to help them warm up a little. They were reluctant to come down out of their nest but finally did.

Tomorrow schools closed too, they closed Seattle schools early at 12;30 today.

Have fun and be safe.
