If you want to know what weather is like around washington. Then I sudgest you pay attention to the storm that is bareling down on us now. Gotta love the pineapple express storms that blow in and flood out EVERYTHING!!! I know here on the west side of the mountain we are going to get pounded/flooded out. Chickielady! Are you at least a little above sea level??? I worry about you being so low. And CR what about you? Aren't you in the flood plain??? I kinda wish we were all closer, cause I would offer up space for emergencies. The weather that system that will be here saterday-monday morning, is gonna be wet wet wet... Mountain are gonna get poured on by rain, on top of ALL of that fresh heavy wet snow... The passes are gonna be scary.

I sure hope everyone is as ready as they can be, cause I think about everyone here when we get nasty weather...

Off shopping, I missed planting my garlic on Columbus Day, and my day is rubbing it in as his are several inches tall already...so I better go do it...later !
Oooh...4 more pips !

Cheryl we are about 50 feet off the river, which is about 2 feet above sea level, so we are fine, and inland around a few corners so a Tsunami won't get us (I think)...we live up the hill and across the street from a flood plain, worst case scenario is we get flooded on the plain and over the top of our road.
I will take photos when we go to town, it is beautiful out here.

You guys are too funny. Don't have time to go back and quote, so just a few random thoughts.

Growing up in Ketchikan, we fished a lot. NEVER ate the lingcod, thought it was inedible. We would save one small one and feed it to the cats.

Yeah, time to put on the hipwaders, on the news this morning they said it was a river aimed straight at us. Gotta love those Pineapple expresses. I think there was about 9 rivers that expected to hit flood stage.

If we want the #1 thread, we need to post a whole lot. I think the Okies are way way ahead of everyone. I looked once a few months ago and I think we were at #4.

Ummm.....not to be a know it all, but if you suscribe to this thread(click on suscribe at the bottom of page when you are posting, under options) you get an email when somone has posted. I get an email, then I can go directly to the thread, to that post then start from there. It makes life so much easier. Same if you are following any other thread, like if you have started a thread for a question or something.

We all know that (I think) and they are teasing me...and the point of posting as much as possible had to do with us all being gone to the show, and our thread would fall to page 2 or 3 (OH NO!!!) We post alot, so our WA thread stays on page one.
Wonder how much we would all need to post to get to #1 spot on page #1 ?

Good advice on marinating Bob...maybe come fishing sometime ?
Do you fish out there ?

I don't fish here. To me its no fun fishing in brown/green muddy mucky water. I do fish when we go to Colorado and we do plan fishing when we are in Washington.

Well sure, as long as the weather holds out and you have a license ?
If you have no license you will need to buy one and they expire in March...bummer.
The idea is to get a license when season opens !
We put in at So Bend usually (on the Willapa) and go out into the bay...and I am after crab next time too !
(Gotta see if it is crabby season out there yet)

We have 1 cuckoo marans, and a Blue Splash marans and a Blue Marans chick so far, and 3 more BBS Marans pipped and 2 Cuckoo Marans pipped.

By Nature Farms...you will realize Cheryl is our official weather reporter...used to be Jessica Rabbit but she has not been on in a while, busy with a new business.
So periodically Cheryl lets us know and when she does I pay attention.
I guess I will walk out and take a pic of the salt tidelands across the street....

A view from out future home's backyard, looking down you can kinda see the driveway, and in the distance, the golden plain is the salt flood/tidal lands, clear up to the foot of our driveway, cool, huh ?
In the distance is the steam plume from Weyerhauser plant in Raymond, and just under it you will see our driveway...

A telephoto of the flood plain

In the summer, this entire plain is covered with 4-5 foot tall stiff grasses and reedy plants, in the wind they look like water the way they blow and swirl in the wind.
Elk and deer run around out there and you can barely see them.
There is also BIG root wads and drift wood clear up to the road.
Some times we look out there and the entire golden plain is water, right up to the edge of the asphalt you see down at the bottom of the pic.
High tides.
It is very beautiful.
