I actually went out yesterday and took some pictures of her wings, and they aren't as bad as they were, so she might have been molting. I did talk to Jaimie, he liked AJ.
How was your visit over here??

CR--you crack me up. I lol every time I read your posts pretty much. thanks for the smiles.

also--
I don't have a picture of The Incident, but the kids in the make up and the markers? LOL!! My son and daughter did the same thing when they were very young. DS would NOT wear clothes much when he was like 1 1/2 years old.. couldn't keep him dressed. I was making dinner, and they were back in DD's room, I could hear them talking and laughing etc. then it got VERY quiet for a period of time. I tiptoed back to see what was going on.. DD had COLORED DS in with markers. Lucky for us it was the washable Crayola markers.. but wow, he was very colorful!! They were proud of themselves.

Cute!

Reminded me of this from 2004 .... when my little 2 yo found scissors and some permanent markers just days before going to California to visit with several of my cousins who were visiting from Holland.

!!! DH had twin girls, and one day at about 2 yo they (in the same crib) awoke in the morning and decided that brown stuff in their diapers worked pretty good for finger painting the wall, the crib, and each other !!

...reminds me I have these thin thin rice paper skins, like the size of a dinner plate, you can put in diced veggies, a peice of fish or prawn..fold up and steam cook...use wasabi or soy sauce to dip. I use LaChoy...it has no gluten or MSG.

Just use some of the rooted Ivy for a yule log for someone next year, kinda like an Amish Friendship Cake, and so then, I am sure all your wishes will come true. Sure of it.
The pay it forward effect

This reminds me, I have a really good recipe for Amish friendship cake but no starter. I've had it for years when it was first given to me with starter but that was down in Cali. I could ask if anyone up here has starter but what I really want to know is does anyone know how to get a starter started when there isn't any?

I have some stater in the freezer.

Trade. I want some sourdough starter. will need to wait until I get there.

Get a wide mouth mason jar, cover top with open weave fabric, not a tight weave..and secure with a rubber band.
Inside you first put wheat flour and dilute and mix with water, so it is like runny-ish pancake batter.
Cover with the fabric, secure with rubber band, set on your refridgerator. If it 'catches' some good bread yeasties, a liquid will form on top.
Smell it, and see if is good and sour, if so use it, and replace the water/flour mixture.
Sourdough has to be fed.
If not in use, stick it in the fridge.
It can catch 'off' yeasts and moulds too, so if it smells nasty, toss it out. Good real sourdough starter is glossy, smooth and smells of so sour.
I have seen some grocery stores have packs of the sour dough yeast to get you started...trying to get a start going in winter can be difficult.
The yeasts blow in the wind, and you protect them through the winter.
Check your groceries' bread and baking area, or a health food store maybe.

Luckily you don't have a photo of that; they would be so embarassed if you had a moving out party, complete with a slideshow of them growing up! (Something I plan to do ...) I have not written my annual letter in 3 years, but going to try and catch up this year. I try and include some of the funny stories and photos. I have some gems! There's one from this year that I'm not sure I should include in the letter as I sure my son will be embarassed soon. I can put it here though (maybe I already have?):

DS is in 6th grade and turned 12 in October. He is growing very fast ... already over 6 feet tall and size 14 shoes! He also has high functioning autism, and is a bit naieve. When he joined the wrestling team, I sent my husband to Sports Authority to look for shoes and such. Alex came to me with some protective gear laughing his head off: "Apparently Dad thinks something else is growing as fast as the rest of me!" So the boy has not hit puberty yet.

The shoes were funny too. No store stocks size 14 wrestling shoes. You have to get them online. The team has green and black unitards (likely the least attractive clothing item ever invented) and black shoes with white stripes. In size 14, I could find red shoes (for the Holiday look), Sparkly gold and black ($180), and Sparkly silver with neon blue soles ($79 ... cheapest, therefore the ones he got). If you are going to have big feet, wear them with pride! Because he is so big, he wrestels the 8th grade boys from his school. I noticed a lot of 8th grade girls cheering for him. I asked him how so many girls already know who he is, is it his height? He answered, "No, everyone knows who I am; it is my shoe size!" He does not know what they say about shoe size ....
