They are so cute! Since we lost the lawsuit, I won't be getting a bigger coop in the spring, but maybe I can get another ark, and some eggs if one of the girls goes broody. I want chicks!

Eastern Washington is less expensive to live. NE has a very low cost of living. We were able to retire here early because of it. There are rentals out there and with the economy it might be easier for you to rent than you think. Good luck and welcome to Washington in advance!
Just be warned that Eastern Washington is very cold in the winter. Coming from Hawaii, you may not like it. I'm sure your sister can give you some advice about where to live in her vicinity.

Great idea, I did the same thing. When I was a kid my dad had his shop all organized and when he cleaned everything got put back in it's place. I always knew where to find things. Hubby is a really bad organizer. He will clean his shop but it's more like straightening. nothing goes in the same place twice and there are several places to possibly find the nails and screws. Now when I buy nails etc I keep them all in a bucket down in the tack room. He has his and I have mine. Same with the tools. I have my own tool box. So nice to be able to find a hammer or screw driver without wasting half my day. No one even bothers my tools. It's a walk from the garage/house to the tack room and everyone is too lazy. They would rather spend 1/2 hr looking in the garage for what they want. Thats just fine with me!
Thanks for the information. We moved to Hawaii from Alaska about 9 years ago, so I am used to the cold, I actually have more issues with the heat and humidity here. Just depends on how cold it is and for how long, plus the snow issue. Shoveling snow was the biggest reason for leaving Alaska.
I don't have a clue what is considered East or NE. I have a county map and it looks like Kitsap county is on the left, would that be Western Washington area?
Yes, Kitsap County is Western Washington. We live in Island County, just a short ferry trip from the Peninsula. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kitsap_County,_WA for more information on Kitsap. There's places that are very cheap to rent over there and certainly higher priced areas, as well. I'd recommend you contact a few rental companies and see what they can do for you.
