What are these deer called? Are they a strain of Mule Deer? They look small. I have heard Northwest deer have all black tails, is this true?
I think I saw some deer run across the road the other nite but they looked small, I thought they were Coyotes.

Huh. I don't know what they're called other than their highly scientific name, "deer". Here's another photo that should show their tails though.

pongoid-- There are White Tails in EW ... they have HUGE white tails like a deer flag attached to their hiney that they hold high when they are bounding away.

they are kinda tannish with some black on the non-white side.. is that what you mean by black tail coloration?

For those asking me about getting bees, queens or hives from the WSU breeding program

I asked the graduate student in my entomology class about it and they do sell some bees, queen. these ones are resistant to some pathogens and certain mites and stuff....

she did tell me that there is a Puget Sound bee keeping association that does a really really good job and is another good way of getting good healthy bee stock and meeting people who can troubleshoot for you.

just though i would let some of you know.
if you still want WSU queens let me know or try googling for contact information.
(this girl's masters is specializing on bees so she was happy when i asked bee questions)

I do like being here at wsu at times, it gets me access to resources that most people do not have.

here is a link to some publications released by wsu professors
https://pubs.wsu.edu/ListItems.aspx?CategoryID=148
https://pubs.wsu.edu/ListItems.aspx?Keyword=bees
they are free to download

this is about the breeding and research that WSU has/does on bees
