I've got a barred rock and rhode island red, they're my first girls

Deb the rir has a bad leg and hobbles everywhere but shes still number one in the hen house

Then I have another young rhode island red hatched out last summer along with a french black copper marans lady. The loner is a black banty girl-not sure what she is haha. And last my two silkie show girls.

In the brooder I have a speckled sussex, a buff orpington and a silver laced wyandotte. They're starting to feather!

And then I've got lots of mixed coturnix eggs. I'm biding time right now as the first set should hatch out tonight or tomorrow!

and then I've got about 40 that I just set in the bator yesterday

I have no incubator so I'm safe. It pains me, but at least I'm safe (for now). Can't speak for the rest of you with those big beautiful incubators though. Even those nice little Brinsea mini's and Eco's could handle those eggs quite well. I do think I'll sneak over there just because I'm a looky loo and see how much those pretty eggs are up to now...

Ok so color me S T U PID but What is the stuff about banding birds going to show. Also do they "vet" check when you coop in. When we were doing the goats that is what they called it. Basically it was members from the sponsor club that did a quick basic health check. Looking for things like runny nose / eyes, parasites, hershey's etc.

It's hard to tell but we got some MAJOR drifts! I went ahead and locked everyone in again tonight and spread a fresh bale of straw for the waterfowl---even the Muscovies were in their shelters last night--but the stupid geese were just sitting there in the snow!

It's supposed to be cold tonight but the worst tomorrow night with -15 or so!

Friday: Sunny, with a high near 19. Wind chill values as low as -17. North wind between 11 and 15 mph.

Friday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around -3. Wind chill values as low as -10. North wind between 6 and 9 mph.

Aaaaah - A sunny day and the ground is not mucky .... almost forgot what that looks like. I feel warmer just looking at the pictures. Cute hen and chicks too.
