Here's a link to the broiler processing process. It is kind of graphic....but not too bad.

Dang, I need one of those pluckers! I heard that's the worst part!

That is really cool. DH was not so impressed - he just can't do it. I thought that was the best thing. I would love to do it. It would be a messy stinky day...but I would have a freezer of home-grown meat. I wonder how they made the plucker?

Yeah the pluckers neat, it would make the job much easier. I hate plucking

- My Shamo cockerel will NOT be attending the Monroe show this Spring.

He decided that a missing sickle feather isn't enough. . . He's gotta break the tip off of a secondary AND a primary feather.

I'm still going though.

So I wonder how much you get off if you get 5. 5 of us could go in together and get them if its a lot cheaper...

Thanks for sharing, this would be perfect. I could go for in for 1 if the discount for 5 is good

On a side note, I'm going to start building a new coop soon with hopes to hold about 15 standard ladies. How big should I make the coop? It's 4 sqr.ft per bird right? I've been thinking along the lines of about the size of this here shipping container. Maybe flipped on it's side so that its 8ft wide 5ft tall and 7ft deep. Then put it up on some legs and wheels. Add some siding. A ramp and a roosting pole. I think that'd be a perfect coop...depending on whether its big enough.

Edit:
Ha answered the question without knowing it in this post. ahahahah.
8x7=56 and 56/4=14 that would be about the right size for the birds.
YAY Even better deal.

hehehe. Any chance you'd be willing to bring some eggs to the show?! I've been so temped to bid on your auctions but I'm just too nervous with shipped eggs

I ordered some before and a bunch were broken, my mailmans so rude. I heard him drop the box as I was walking to answer the door even though it clearly said LIVE EGGS on the top. I just don't trust him
