I don't know....I can't. LOL So I sell them for more than anyone would want to spend on eating birds. Of course, if someone does pay me $75 for a bird and eats it--whatever. I don't want to know. LOL

RFF: Would he have some that are not as high a show quality? I would actualy love a trio. I would make up a separate pen/coop. I don't know why, I was really were taken with those that CR had shown on here.

I would imagine that the guy wants to pass on his major breeding stock to someone that is going to further his work. Who knows in a few years, when kids are out of the house, I may have time to start showing (used to show rabbits as a kid)...I wouldn't mind doing at all. Would be fun. But if he would be interested to talk, I would love to talk to him/her.

I already asked about the trio but he has 10 hens and two roosters...so the most he'd be willing to split would be 5 hens with 1 roo and he wants $200.00 for all.

I will have some LF rosecomb RIR this spring I'm getting eggs from Dick Horstman. Even with that stock, I am sure I will have culls...or at least extras, as I only have room for about 5 and I'm setting a dozen eggs.

Keep me in mind. If I was not buying the incubator I would seriously think about his birds...but the other thing is I would need to make up another nice coop, so that is more $$$$, which I will probably be doing something this summer anyway. . .

Thanks...She was floating out the door to college this morning! She's doing the Running Start program so that she can get her AA and diploma at the same time. She loves her music professor and was so excited to be able to go and tell her.
Take lots of video of your little piano player cause you'll be amazed what they can do even 2 years later!

We have a beautiful sunny day here. If it's not toooo cold I'm going to go out and start potting up flowers to bring to the show for whoever told me they wanted some.(hard to keep track) But I'll have lots so no worries.

Hey all, today is day 29 / 30 for my first hatch duckie and there is no pip, no peek, no duckie.
Do I just open the box and toss it out??

I dare not open the egg to look.

I could candle to see if there is movement.
I've also quit candling all together for the other eggs.
I have a set of 3 more eggs I want to put in the hatch box tomorrow night

and this time I'm leaving a candling light in the hatch box, and I'm cutting a biger hole on the side & glue a wubber glove to the hole & double insulating the hole when I cap it shut if i'm not using it. Kind of like the sand blasting box, but not quite as fancy. Just one hand.
I had cut the hole before, but haven't figured how to best attach the glove, and didn't know which glove to use and the hole is too small.
I'm thinking of using a thick wubber glove so it will be more temp stable when I reach in. I thought I could also use the thick sleeves of said glove, & then cut out the hand part & each time I reach in, use those blue surgical gloves and toss them whan I'm done. I guess I want to be able to help if need be but not affect the rest of the eggs.
Uncertainty is killing me.

But looks like curiosity killed the duck.

Edited cause the caffine has not quite gotten to the fingers yet.

So I talked to the guy, he said over 5 crates and they are 50 each, than if most go to Annies mom the cost is 75.oo on top of that. But yes we can pick up from them.. So I dont have a clue how much they weight, I'll call back in a little bit and ask for eveyone.. Than let you know..
I need to go and will get back on in a little bit.

I bought four sale cages and I'll have to rotate birds through the day...I am also bringing a PQ sebbie gander and my blue muscovy drake to sell so I requested a sale PEN...but we'll see. I cleaned my coop top to bottom yesterday and cannot for the life of me--find my sebbie crate and then I realized I left it in PORTLAND at Thanksgiving!

So now I have to go to Wal-Mart and buy another HUGE rubbermaid tub and convert it. Sighs.

For show, I'm bringing two (bantam) Spangled Russian Orloff cockerels, two black (LF) Sumatras, one LS hen, one LS pullet and I entered my Coronation pullet but I might end up leaving her at home...it will depend on how much room I have left in my car.
