Cowgirlgrace,
Do you have any more Coronation Sussex that you need to find homes for? Let me know

Ok heading to bed I think since its very quiet here. good night all

Mine were splits, they were getting new homes because they aren't really Coronations. Not using them for Sussex breeding though.

I think CGG has her birds on some secret diet that makes them ginormous! I've never seen such big hens! I thought I had some pretty big birds, but they are nothing compared to hers. I HAD to get some Orpington chicks when I was there just to prove to DH that there are turkey sized chickens! They are beautiful. At least one of the black ones will be a roo - not sure if I will keep him, he's sweet though. I moved all the chicks from the brooder to the coop a few days ago. They learn a lot from watching the hens on the other side of the fence. The chicks used to run from me and now they mob me when I walk into their coop, just like the hens do. They have not figured out that the snacks I bring them are edible, so after an hour or so, I move the snacks to the hen pen.

The reason her hens are so big is because they're directly related to Greenfire's imported Coronation Sussex, which are naturally BIG birds. That's why I got them. I knew they'd be big. Have you seen Rare Feathers Farm's Light Sussex cockerel? Same thing, imported Sussex, and he was only a young teenager in the photos and already enormous.

Something to think of. . . It's not the feed, it's the breeding. My hatchery Brahmas for example are now the second SMALLEST breed I own in my flock, yet true type Brahmas are among the 3 largest known breeds. I can't wait til tomorrow to get a comparison photo. It is hilarious to see the size difference.

I drove to Seattle, picked up my new Omlet (which will be the quarentine home to the Sussex I'm buying from RFF )

It was amazing how much I got done today after that!

Anyone hear from Mike? I'm really hoping he get some good news from Japan today - I've been thinking about that all day. My brother and his family have been taking in 2 Japanese exchange students per year for the last 5 years. He and his sons are waiting to hear from them as well. I can't even look at the news from there today - it is too heartbreaking, and makes me feel rather hopeless when I see the huge debris piles. How are they ever going to get all that cleaned up?

Gorgeous birds! The hen I'm getting from RFF is from the same line I think, and she is going to be big as well - now I'm worried that my pop doors may be too small!

Sorry I didn't make it to Blueducklings today.

It was not a good day today.

I am going to do everything I can to stay down this week so I can be sure to make it to the show. So, my DD came up with the idea of printing out a bunch of "Tudy" pictures and we will bring crayons and we all can color and take pics with Tudy!

Does anyone know of a place to stay by the show that is UNDER $100? Is it just me or are hotel/motel stupidly expensive!!! I'm just looking at somewhere to stay just in case I'm exhausted by the end of the day and not up to the hour drive home that night.

IDK. Just keeping my options/wallet open!
