let her - both my kids learned. My DH could use them before he used a fork! When I first moved up here, I went to Noble Court for Dim sum with a friend of mine who is from Hong Kong and her 18 mo. daughter. When they brought out only chop sticks, my friend asked the waitress for a fork for me. The waitress put the flatware on the high-chair and gave me the chopsticks. When we switched and I saw the baby could already use chopsticks I was so embarrassed! I learned quickly. For my son, se always had them around. Initially, he would stub his food with them and lif it that way. Then I rolled up the paper wrapper, put it between the sticks near the fat end and rubber-banded it so he could use them as pincers. I never showed him how to use the chopsticks, but it was not long before he learned and did not need the rubber band. My SIL and MIL were visiting when we were all invited to a New Years Party at the home of some Japanese friends, and they took video of Alex eating sushi with chopstick at barely 3 YO. My mother thinks it is just wierd that we eat soup with chopsticks now. My DD is not so skilled, I think because she does not like Asian foods.

Indian kids eat hot spicy foods and curry, its relative to what you are used to, you just have to work up to it I think. My buddy had a 3 year old that could eat about as spicy Mexican food as you wanted and he was fine.

Maybe I need to google the Stevenson trip.

Id like to get some ducklings, choc or blue most likely. I like the trout color also.

Goglemaps says 3 hours 37 minutes to Stevenson Wa from Seattle. It might be easier to stay in Portland. Thats a long drive. I think Im getting old, I dont want to drive any more.

The BCMs at my house are taking there sweet time to lay also this year. I didnt have them under a light is why. I wanted to let them have a time off this winter. They will lay but your right they dont lay eveyday. Plus they do need to get use to there new place and feel safe. As to her not comming to you that will take time and also I dont pick my girls up becasue you have to remember Im allergic to them. At my place they free range during the day on more than a acre and than tuck them self's in at night in the coop.
Ive never had a problem with them getting egg bound but this doesnt mean it cant happen.

I think it is just transplant shock - I don't add heat or light (or at least did not till I moved the chicks out there), and my birds were laying near daily, even during the shortest days of winter! That's wierd too. A few months back, when I was trying to choose a breed to raise for dark eggs, I read somewhere that marans don't lay as reliably as other breeds. I don't know if that is true or just one persons opinion. In any case, I'm intrigued by the color.

The banty laid her first egg today.

That is true, I had some 30+ marans and didnt get that many eggs a day ever..

When my DS started crawling, he grabbed a bottle of La Victoria Salsa Brava from the door, and was sucking on the bottle. I thought it could not hurt, it was a new bottle and the lid seemed quite secure, so I let him play with the bottle while I was paying bills. A little while later, he's shaking the bottle and calling out to get my attention. The bottle was empty!!! The cap was on the floor, there was not a drop of salsa on the floor, and very little on his shirt. He drank the entire bottle and the heat did not seem to bother him!!! (Should have seen his diapers though

Okay so now I'm panicked.

I was told that the radiologist would look at the ultrasound and call me if anything was "wrong." If I didn't hear back within the next few days, I'd get a letter in the mail saying everything was okay....

Well I got home at 5:15 and had two hang-ups on the answering machine from my clinic. My heart sank and I called back. I was put on hold for 11 minutes, transferred twice and then put on hold another 3 minutes. I finally was told that everyone that would know anything is gone for the evening and to call back in the morning!

I'm sure it'll turn out fine. Though I know it's scary when you don't "know". There were some "abnormalities" on my ultrasound at first too, and I had to go to another hospital to have ultrasounds every 2 weeks to monitor things and after three or four ultrasounds everything was fine. It was a growth rate thing on the fluid-y part of DS's brain. But like anyone that saw him running around the Monroe show like a goon knows, he's just fine!!
