so just wondering do ducks and geese have to have access to water (for play not drink)

i am considering getting tolouse eggs this summer (if my GQF incubator ever arrives... that company is a slacker...)

but i only want to get the guard geese if i do not have to have water..... i am not putting in a pool....

and can they be housed with the chickens?

I have a Farm Master that FiL says works great...holds about 3000 eggs................FiL put a digital thermostat in it, DH said he was taking it out & putting the wafer back in (thank the Gods).......but it does work and is BIG if you are needing something big....
Tam how could a bird just 'disapear' ?

3000 eggs is more than I can even imagine!!! LOL!

The Old English Games are pretty tiny. I'm not really sure what happened. The only thing that I can think of, is Shannon took one of the hen's out of that coop Saturday to take to the Livestock 101 class we went too. Maybe either when she took her out or put her back in, the little pullet escaped the run without anyone noticing? If that's not what happened, I have no idea. We did many years ago have a Japanese bantam taken out of this same run piece by piece by a raccoon through 1" chicken wire. But there was lots of evidence strewn about the next morning, and we have since wrapped the whole run with 1/4" hardware cloth and there is no evidence of anything like that having happened. So it's a mystery.

Awwwwwwwww I should let my silly duck do this too. I just can't stand the stinky poo the broody ducks make.

He is soo much eye candy..purple, green turquise, he shimmers with color.
No other black bird has these colors, colors reflected from the sky.
He is gorgeous!

BD- I just candled the eggs. There are blood vein things 1/2 - 3/4 down the eggs and all over. Is this good or bad?

I took the clear eggs out. It has been a week and no sign of anything at all. I don't need a icky egg exploding in my bathroom!!!

CR: Here is the story: CL tried to fool all of us. She said she had unplugged her incubator and that some 25 more chicks had hatched. It scared us all, we thought she was off her rocker and didn't understand why she would unplug her 'bator full of eggs. I made the comment that I had thought her "cheese had slid off her cracker"....she was joking...she was trying to explain how she had 25 more chicks...saying that the eggs plugged in the bator and crawled in and got hatched. Well, that is her story and she is sticking to it....especially with Chickenman.

yaaay!! I just hope they were fertile lol. I cracked a serama egg a couple days ago, it looked good, same with the orps. AND! I forgot to give you the fish tank tubing! when I put it in lockdown I dont want to open to add water, so I pulled the small red plug on top and stuck a length of tubing in there till it was over the water tray, then used a syringe to add more water. (read that on byc) works great! I also open that little plug during hatching if the humidity sky rockets. good luck with both hatches! cant wait to see what you get!

No worries, I'll find some tubing before then.
