We should organize a Peeps & Quackers' camping trip some place not too far away. Lake Easton or something.
Who is game? I haven't driven too far with my trailer. Not enough guts.

I'm Game! We love going to Lake Kachess .... it is very near Lake Easton, only nicer. I used to always grab lake-side spots, but last time I went, and it was almost full. I found a double spot on the loop the RV's usually go to. It is a bit further from the lake (still an easy walk), and best of all, less mosquitos! Really nice big spot with woods all around and bathroom nearby (flush but no showers.... we go home for those as I am 35 miles away ... and I could still take care of my chickens!) The campground is great... fairly quiet (especially compared to Lake Wenatchee), lots of hiking, nice lake for boats of all sizes, good swim area, flat for bicycles... No camp store though.

I must have gone to the yucky side of lake Kachess the last time I checked it out. Was attacked my a BIG swarm of Monster mosquitoes and there were lots of fallen trees and closed off areas.
Here is lake Easton from the back of out site. We actually climbed up a hill to take this picture.

My 2 SLW are Lila and LuLu. I named Lila after a silver haired lady I know who is terrified of chickens because a mean old roo came flying at her when she was a child, and this still traumatizes her 60+ years later.

OMG I'm going to be an old old lady that will still be afreared of those shiny chickens!

Maybe I'll think they are ducks.

I have done some cutting, but show in reining. stud horse is a derby winner. this guy is his first colt. very excited about him!! will get some dry pics of him later today. he is already trying out those long legs!
He is Mr Gunsmoke, Hollywood Jac 86, Joe Cody, Doc O Lena and some Jet Deck thrown in for good measure lol

Ok Gottcha! Gotta love Jet Deck! I have always been partial to the old lines, with three bars, Poco Bueno, Oklahoma star, Music mount ect. Those were the lines of horses we had as a kid. I haven't kept up too much with them lately, although I still remember some including Doc O lena, Lark spur I think was one, It all depends and what you want to do with your horse as to which line you have, Jet Deck was racing quarter, ( we used to have friends that had that line and raced in the Tricities and Waitsburg ect)
Anyway, Congrats and good luck with the little guy, I'll be watching to see how gets along!

I had leased a horse i would show with who had Impressive in him.... needless to say this horse had to have surgery on his back right and his gait was a little weird because the owners didn't exercise him enough while recovering. Always had to tell the judges that he has Impressive in him otherwise they would throw me out or DQ thinking he was lame. Parz was really well trained and i won many shows with him. He was actually one of the smoothest QH i have ever ridden.... (i owned for 5 years) Chief my double registered paint had a trot that would shred your organs, no one would believe me when i complained of side pains when riding him, but his canter was nice, i think his favorite was walking. so not as good in western pleasure but he did awesome in trail.

I don't look at the presumed dead eggs. I just toss them all out and look forward to the next hatch.
I read that you need to put all the eggs in at once, then let it hatch out, don't go look or poke at it...thats why its called lock down. then if it doesn't hatch, out it goes after 2 days toss..
If it is a late bloomer, there is going to be problems with it anyhow. I rather toss them out as an egg than have to kill them later. YUCK YUCK.
So I'm trying my bestest to not even go look. I know they can live out of their egg sack for a day.
After a day, I'll go take any chicks out quickly and then spray the eggs with water.
Thats my plan for this week.
Anyone doing different? I lost babies last week to tough membrane so I think its because I opened everytime there was a newbie.
CL?

Why do you spray with water? CL said she did this too. After lockdown I opened once to take out the 6 that were all dry as they were knocking all the eggs around. And then I took out the last 2 when they were totally dry and I saw nothing happening with the other eggs. I have the Brinsea which shows me the temp and the humidity. I was able to keep it around 63-65% humidity, which is what the book said to do. I like the idea of a spray bottle.

I think it is to compensate for the sudden drop in humidity when you open the box. Unless you live in Singapore wher the humidity is close to 100. Heck I guess you can just leave the eggs out on the kitchen counter and it will just hatch. Temp is 98*F and humidity is always over 75%.

Where is Easton? I am game. Just got to get DH on board.

Easton is along I-90. It is a State Park. It is about 45 min from Issaquah? maybe less.

No, we will be coming down in the morning. Only an hour and 20 min drive for us. Too hard to stay over w/ 6 Kids!!!

Nice avitar. Is that one of your own babies??
Hmm. My drive is almost 4 hrs. With bathroom stops and such it is more like 5 hrs.
I'll see you at the show. How long are you going to be there??

That was one of the 1st chicks of this year. It would always fall asleep in your hand as soon as you picked it up.
We want to go to the OMSI movie so we just have to figure out which one. That will dictate when we need to be there and for how long. Not sure how long at the show(depends on my DH's patience

So I've lost count - Who is going to Stevenson now? And who is spending the night? I'm driving down on Saturday morning with a friend and we're spending the night somewhere on the river. I'd better find the name of that hotel...

Should I bring nametags for everyone? Can I leave them at one of the tables so folks can find them? Maybe the Faverolles table - would that be okay?
