My level of craziness =
This has occurred in just over a year:
Bought BR chicks from feed store and converted old kid play house to coop. Built protective run.
Then built another run, parallelling (just in case) and besides....this way the rabbit can run free.
Went to a show and met many of my BYC friends...caught the chicken bug even worse.
Bought incubator
Let hen hatch out eggs....bought 3 chicks to stick under her as just 2 didn't seem enough.
Incubator hatched out 8 chicks.
Just ordered a pre-fab little coop/run combo as DH is not carpentry literate and we needed a nice tight home for the new Seramas ordered.
Bought a $50 flashlight, that will light up a room (DH keeps playing with it and used it on his motorcycle yesterday) for candeling eggs.
Plan on building a third run (paralleling) and dividing coop for bantams on side and Big girls on other side.
Big girls you say? Oh, yes....25 Orp eggs coming in the mail to put in the incubator .... um, today. Might want to keep a couple and a roo.

I have decided that all of you have a very "dangerous" virus and it is contagious and I have DEFINITELY caught the bug. I hope it never goes away.

Is that flashlight the one from Home Depot that is like 105 candles? If so that is the one I got. You can also get a rubber toilet flapper to fit on it and cut a hole out of the rounded side(to set the egg on). Works slick!
You know your gone when your go for to 50$ flashlight just to candle!!!

Is a regular flshlight not strong enough for candling? I need to candle the eggs under my broody.

I kept getting angry with my kids for leaving the guest bedroom door open - the cat goes in and sleeps on the bed, and I try and keep the room fur free for my friends that are allergic to cats. Saturday I saw the cat walk up to the closed door and pull of the lever handle to release the latch while pushing her boday against the door to open it! Smart cat. Now if only I could teach her how to use a lint roller to get rid of the evidence.

Sounds like you'll have to go to a round knob for that door!

We had an orange tabby back in the 80's that was trained to use the toilet. No litter box needed but you did have to make sure the lid was up!

That would be a cool kitty skill, especially because The Flump will only use a perfectly clean box. If it has anything but litter in it, she will go in front of the box (I have 4 boxes so hopefully at least one is clean at all times). The kids are bad about putting the lid down, so at least that is not a problem. Orange Tabbys are the coolest cats! Sometimes The Flump behaves like an orange tabby, but too often she reverts to Her Royal Hiney, Fluffy Butt Queen Char in her fine white fur and blue eyes. She looks down upon all living creatures while expecting admiration from all.

I got the brightest one I could find to help out with candling Marans and Marans cross(OE's) eggs because they are soooo dark. With white or very light shelled eggs, it would probably be fine. I also wanted LED so that it wouldn't get hot.

I have a chick sitting on my shoulder. The other chicks are unhappy about being left in the brooder. Hans is peeping quietly in my ear. I start him out on my lap, but he always ends up on my shoulder. I guess he likes to see.

April is sending seven chicks and some watermelon tomorrow. I'll be sending Sandy and #3 home to Rainwolf soon.

Welcome Back! Just wanted to let you know the light Sussex and Barnevelder I picked up from you last week are doing GREAT. The Sussex has given us 3 eggs in 4 days and seems to be the fearless leader of the pack. I watched her today bossing everyone else around.

They're such pretty girls - Thank you again for them.

This is our friend's cat, Peter Pan-da. He would let you pack him around all day like that. Not aloof or snobbish. Very mellow, cool cat. Just the kind I like!
