I am setting eggs tomorrow (close enough?) in a Brinsea Octagon 20. Can I join in? It's my first hatch since I was a kid.

Personally I say the more the merrier. How many do we have now? 4 of us all together or more? How exciting. UPdates are necessary.

I know nothing about bantams, but read that LG Sicilian Buttercups are about 4 lbs when grown. So maybe you do have a banty SB.
BTW- the cat is now laying in the brooder, the chicks are unconcerned.

That's what I was going to say. She looks like the pic of what my Sicilian Buttercup is supposed to look like and shes about 4-5 weeks (so aptly named Spot) I will see about posting pics soon... Beauties they are. I don't think they are bantams though (I thought). How old is she?

She was a feed store chick and was slod a SR Bantam. Which ya all know means it was a grab bag.

Cheryl: I lived in Indianola when I first got stationed at Bangor. What a FUN little area, without all the traffic and stress, but noone ever knows where I'm talking about!

QueenChick and Rare Feathers: Hallo from Oroville. Moved to the Okanogan in 07 and lovin' it! Brand new to chickens and they're gonna have a finished house before I do.

WHAT a gorgeous day! I can do without the wind in my valley, and I didn't bring the ladies out today because of it, but I'm going to have to move them into the bigger brooder I'm working on by next week...

Watching what all of you are up to as my guidance, but, HEY, no pressure!!

Got both nest boxes insulated and roofed today, just need to put up some siding and paint. My arms and nose are actually pink! WooHoo, SUN! Do we really have to have more rain all next week?! I really need to get those crates set up for the big girls! I think I'm gonna put them about 10 feet apart and make the space in the middle my storage/brooder/incubator room. My sheman cave!

If we could just get the ground to dry out enough... maybe in August!

CR- how'd ya do on getting your bantie coop done? Ready for that BRIR Roo yet? Do you incubate? Or just get chicks? Don't remember if you said one way or the other. I could always hatch some for ya, hint, hint

Okay...10 pm. Today got the coop and run all dug out and ready for sand to be put in. I have a GORGEOUS compost pile going. LOL. I am tired and dirty and I am going to go take a shower in 30 sec (or when I am done typing). DD was up past her bedtime and got bratty, which made me tired and bratty (actually another word that starts with a B but can not be put on here) and I get yelling. Now I feel like a heel. I will talk with her in the morning and apologize. I hate acting like that. Well, off to get Easter goodies ready for kids...yes even the 53 year-old...and then a shower. Night all.

Anyway, Took the incubator babies out into the sun...following are photos of the incubator babies with DD in their make shift "day" pen.
