lived for a little while in an area between Millbrae and San Bruno (cannot remember the name now, Mapquest doesn't help) -- motel/trailer park, for a bit ( I mostly remember picking all the snails off the palm trees ! )

(could it have been Rohnert Park?) ETA -- no, it was Lomita Park

then we found the house to rent in San Carlos ... there off and on from third grade through the first week of seventh -- but because of my dad's work, we were back and forth also to Oklahoma and Colorado, I never finished a grade in the same school I started the year in, until sophomore year in high school (Bella Vista, in Fair Oaks, north of Sacramento; was a classmate of Lynn "I never promised you a rose garden" Anderson )

I still keep up with some of the kids I knew in San Carlos, and many of the ones from Fair Oaks / Orangevale / Folsom

Hi, I am also a "new egg". I live in Pacific, Wa. My sister is also a member of this website and she lives in Auburn, WA. We just got chickens a week ago. I have two silkies and am looking for more to keep them company. I have done a lot of reading on raising chickens. I hope we can stay in contact. I am now crazy about chickens too.) Patty

and if you wonder, I've been essentially housebound today, had a series of cramps in my left calf muscle overnight -- the cramps apparently pulled something loose; I can barely hobble on it and the leg tends to collapse without warning

made it out to the coop ONCE to make sure the chicks had food and water -- will try to talk DH into going out and sitting with them for a few minutes before it gets cold and dark, and until Dancing with the Stars comes on ...

since at least at the moment it isn't raining (CL's big storm seems to have passed us by either north or south)

Hi, I am new to BYC and posting also. I live in Pacific, Wa and my sister, who is also on BYC, lives in Auburn, WA. I love the names of your chicks!! I just got two silkies a week ago (they were like seven weeks old) and I kept referring to them as powder puffs so my mom suggested I name one "powder" and one "puff". My 12 year old daughter now wants one and she wants to name hers "Bubbles". My sister just put about 20 eggs into an incubator for the first time so we are really excited about hatching and taking care of chicks. It will be a learning experience for both of us. Hope we can talk again sometime. Patty

Hi, I am a new egg. I live in Pacific, WA. I have hear that Ephrate is a nice area. Lots of farming. I got a good laugh from your description of you and your granddaughter getting the eggs. I am that green. It would be funny if I could convince my 12 year old daughter that that is how we have to get the eggs!!!! I love this forum also. So many nice people on it. Hope we can "chat" again. Patty
