Thanks guys! I haven't gotten the eggs yet. So they have to rest for 24 hours? And lock down starts when? After candeling? I didn't know you could get a hygometer at walmart? In the instruction book it talks about charting the egg weight, that's why I asked? Do the eggs lay down in the Octo 20? Or stand on end? I read the directions they didn't seem clear, sorry I'm asking so many questions, they have probably been answered before!

Lockdown starts 3 days prior to hatch day. (day 18) Means that you stop turning the eggs, add water or more water to increase humidity for hatching and do not open the incubator.

yes, let shipped eggs sit for 24 hours so that any detached air cells might re-attach... hopefully. I didn't do this, and had one out of 24 hatch. I was SO disappointed!!

in my brinsea, my eggs are on their side. I haven't ever weighed my eggs.. maybe someone else does? I know Chickielady and some others are super experienced hatchers and hopefully they will chime in too!

Exactly. I even have an O. Chem book for dummies.... but i hate dealing with small stuff. as long as the cells are working right i don't care.

In tree fruit or chickens i am not going to be using a microscope or taking apart DNA and the digestion enzymes.... i would send samples in for testing to the WSU lab.....

RIGHT ON! Hate Chemistry LOVE biology!! I know, they kinda go hand in hand, but, my brain hates numbers and I had one Heck of time in chem class! I passed tho!

Yeah...definitely know what you mean there!! Yeah, I feel bad for that poster...that's one bad thing about the forum environment sometimes...lynch mob mentality.

Wow! I just read it! I bet she does not dare reply to her post anymore! I'm sure she was not trying to hurt her bird, and we all make mistakes, but wow, what a stunning lack of common sense!

As my father likes to say, "Half the population has below average intelligence."

I have to agree with this. But then again, I have learned quiet a bit from CL as well.

I'd put CL even more into Friend or Spirit -- those categories are harder to nominate for, because almost EVERYone here deserves a nomination -- also I see Illia posting all over a bunch of other threads, helping a lot of people out

So very true!
